Do you need to sit in a cantina to lvl a Musician or can you manage enough XP if your always out in a group playing at camps?

What i usually do for musician xp is play whenever i get a chance. This includes waiting for a shuttle ride, waiting for a /tell, waiting to meet someone... you dont have to be in a cantina to get musician xp...

healing xp is a different story... but if you play in a cantina at night with 6 other entertainers, and plenty of people watching, you get a LOT of xp (at one point i was getting 60xp ever 10 seconds).

Depends on what kind of experience you're after. Pure musician experience can be gained no matter where you are or who your healing/not healing. Entertainer healing experience, on the other hand, can only be gained at a cantina, hotel, or camp site. I think it depends on how many are in your group and how 'adventurous' they are. I've never done the camp site healing myself and I've been hearing varying reports about whether BF and/or mind wounds are healed there. So I'm not really sure if you'll gain more or less ent healing exp from a campsite or cantina.

Battle fatigue can only be healed in Cantinas, Hotels and Theaters.

Mind, Focus and Willpower wounds can be healed in Camps, Cantinas, Hotels and Theaters.

The above grants Entertainment Healing XP. So you can get that type of XP in those 4 locations, and you'll get more in the cantinas, hotels and theaters because you heal BF along with wounds.

Musician XP can be gained anywhere, if I am not mistaken. If you're solely interested in XP gain, two flourishes per 10 second tick will maximize your XP gain in Musician. You get more Musician XP for people watching you and going crazy for you (lots of /clap, /cheer, /applaud.)

Your music XP goes way up if you are in a large group as well, even though it isn't necessary. If you want to get to a master level anytime this year though, grouping with other entertainers is almost a must. heh

Entertainer Healing XP is a glut. It's like Surveying XP, it goes up far faster than the skills that need it.

In Coronet, I was playing the other night and earned 956 Entertainer Healing XP in one tick. Yes, NINE HUNDRED and some. 158+798. I capped out EntHeal 4 before I even reached Music 3.

So, play wherever you want. I practice while waiting for shuttles (and since I'm solo, I can play whatever I want, including high-end songs like Folk that cantina groups don't bother with). You get more XP for being in a group, but that inevitably requires you to play lower songs, so it all balances.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, because I don't see my entertainer xp moving at all, and I play just about anywhere I can. I did make some good xp in a hotel, though.

That touches on something I've wondered about. I have healing at IV, and have for awhile now, but I'm still working my music up the ladder (at III now).

What happens to all that healing XP I continue to get? Is it wasted or does it go somewhere for use in further stages?

in the Musician and Dancer Elite Skill sets there are two trees each to climb with the exp. So don't worry, just collect it for now, when you train elite skill Novice you can spend it. =)

I was about the same here. Now, I have musician wound healing II and musicianfatigue healing I whereas I only just got musical knowledge I.

Be aware though, that you can only stockpile up to double the exp of your next untrained skill box. Everything after that gets wasted.

Well I posted about a bug with musician XP and it made me start thinking about XP for us. I'm trying to decide what's the most efficient way to get the highest XP.

Obviously, if you're in a cantina and someone is healing you, double flourishing every tick will do it. But if you're not?

When you play, if you double flourish you get max XP, do nothing and you get a slightly smaller amount of XP every tick until nothing. So the question is, where is the threshold?

a - Let's take a base XP of29 a tick. I get 29 a tick at Musician Music Knowledge 2. Let's suppose I can double flourish every tick 30 times before I have to rest. (I don't know the actual number). So in 5 minutes I earn 870xp and then rest.

b - Now, if I double flourish one tick and let the base riff play two more ticks I get 29, 27, 25 and repeat. That's 810xp, but I've used 1/3 of the action bar. So I can get 2430xp for the same action cost. (Assuming there is no cost for just playing an instrument)

c - Let's extend that further. Let's let the baseriff play 5 times after a double flourish. Then I get 29, 27, 25, 23, 21 and 19 then repeat, giving me 720xp in 30 ticks, but using 1/6 of the action bar. So I can get 4320 using the same action xp.

d - One more. Let's go for 10. 29, 27, 25, 23, 21, 19, 17, 15, 13, 11. That's 600 in 30 ticks. Using 1/10 of the action. or 6000 in 50 minutes.

Now...

Assuming it takes2 minutes to regen action.

I can makec - 4320 in 30 minutes, b - 2430 in 17 minutes, or a - 870 in7 minutes, 6000 in 50 minutes.

a -7456-60 minutes (3728 in 30 minutes)

b -8576 - 60 minutes (4288 in 30 minutes)

c - 8100 -60 minutes (4320 in 30 minutes)

d -6923 - 60 minutes(3600 in 30 minutes)

So it looks like the best macro would be /flo 1; /flo 2; /pause 30, repeat. Of course, this makes for a crappy tune.

I know I leave out a lot of variables. Grouping, action cost for just playing an instrument, and /cheer. But take it for what it is. A little bit of thinking with a calculator handy.
