Thread: Demise of /citywarn. What's your opinion?
This might seem indirectly related to entertainment but I know I've heard of people looking forward to this as one way to police their cantinas.
On test center, /citywarn has been removed. /citywarn is the command that let a militia member warn another player to clear out of the city limits within a short period of time or be subject to attack by the militia.
It was removed on test center for two reasons.
1) Cities were positioning themselves to surround static content and attempt to claim ownership of that content, using /citywarn to keep other players out.
2) In general, SWG is a "consensual PvP only" game and /citywarn is by its nature a command that imposes non-consensual PvP on an unwilling player.
What's your opinion, positive or negative, about this change?
I have never used this feature. What it should do in my oppinion is pop up a message box like this:
"The local militia politely asks you to leave their (city)."
[Leave] [Resist]
Leave should teleport you to the next city border. Resist puts you into PvP. This is consensual PvP like a duel. This MsgBox has to be applicationmodal ( in non-developer words: while you have not answered it, you cannot do anything else ).
Putting cities on POIs... should not be allowed. I mean, I don't want to see the ruins of an ancient civilization with "Deathkiller"'s House next to it. POIs should have a non-build radius like other sites.
As to the popup asking to leave or resist.. Not a bad idea actually. However, it would have to timeout after a certain time and default to leave. Otherwise the person could just leave it up and not worry about anything.
