Thread: Player Theater... Save your CREDS!
Save your cash. Why?
1. They are SMALL. Tiny really. Better room in a player cantina.
2. They are stark. No decorations to speak of.
3. They have NO chairs.
4. The stage is just TINY.
5. You CANNOT drop a Nargalon or Omni Box and play it on the stage.
6. STILL no micstands. Come on people... Can an Agent get a Mic Stand???
After being impressed by the player cantina and the other player city improvements, I can see they cut the corner on this one. ESPECIALLY when you see ampitheaters like the one on Verindi Island, or the nice hall in Dejarik.
Sintari City (Dantooine) placed a Theater as well. I'd much rather work out of one than a Cantina...a Theater doesn't have the same low-class connotations that a bloody bar does. Unfortunately:
- Getting into the backstage area is so convoluted it had me stumped for about 5 minutes the first time I tried to get back there
- You can't heal while performing onstage, yet the seating area can only see the stage area to target a performer for listening/watching/healing
- Walking out onstage cancels a performer's registration
So, in effect, the only part of the theater where we can do our job (healing and being registered on the planetary map) is backstage. The only thing the stage and seating area would be good for would be for role-playing something. Although I suppose you could have one performer out there, and have that performer in a group with others backstage. But if you wanted to include any music at all in the performance, you'd need to have one musician out onstage for patrons to /listen to them. I didn't test that far, as I didn't have any other performers with me.
Basically...yeah, save your credits and clear up 5 lots for a Cantina. 
The hinderances of a Theater aren't worth saving those extra 2 lots.
I agree, the theatres need some work.
