Thread: Mind Buffing?!?!?!?
If you're doing a service for your guild, you may want to determine what is in the best interests of your guild in terms of which profession to take up. First, see if anyone in your guild is leveling either dancer or musician, and then do the opposite. Because musicians buff the secondaries, and dancers the primary, it's better to have both bases covered. Second, assess the needs of your guild:
- If your guildmates are often incapped by mind-damaging attacks, dance buffs will help the primary stats.
- If your guildmates have trouble getting into composite armor, or the medics find that they run out of juice too early in the battle, then they want musician buffs for the secondary stats.
- If your guild needs both primary and secondary stat buffs, and you are the only entertainer, you can go to technique 4 in both dance and music, and gain a 75% buff in each, without spending the points to master either for the 100% buff. This may be the best route if there are no other entertainers in your guild and you need to do both buffs yourself. This route would also allow enough points left overfor combat or crafting skills.
As Kammots said, the relevant skill is in the Techniques skill line. For Musicians, it's Musical Mind Enhancement; each point in that skill translates into the percentage of the "full" buff that you can confer. E.g., the full Master buff (enhancement skill 100) increases Focus and Willpower 100%; at Tech IV, you get a total of +75 in Mind Enhancement, which means you increase Focus and Willpower 75% -- and, I think, take longer to confer the buff.
I've posted a sticki'ed FAQ about the Musician buff in the Musician forum.
