Thread: MAcro Display Question
Like /echo, but in a system message form (on the screen) i dont remember thx
Are you referring to a custom emote that everyone can see?
/emote is making an emote.
or simply
:is making an emote.
like the messages 'server is shutting down..." in white in the middle of the screen
Ooo! ooo! I thought of a way. /add AlarmIn X X <text> I think that's the format for adding an alarm in X hours, X minutes (so 0 6 would be in six minutes) and then you put text after it. And it shows up in the middle of the screen as a system message, because that's the way Alarms display. And you can put the phrase you use for your text in the Chat options as a sentence colorization, and pick a color, so it stands out. I do that with the phrase Buff Done!! because I have an alarm in my /setperform macro that goes off after 6 minutes of buffing (since if you play Virtuoso and flourish your butt off, that's all you need). Anyway, the Add Alarm In format is included in the list if you do /help.
So if you were thinking of having something like what I do, maybe, here's what I have (as best as I can remember while at work):
/vent;/setperform;/hum;/add AlarmIn 0 6 Buff Done!!;/pause 350;/jam;
That does the Ventriloquism effect on the person I have targetted (because I play the chidinkalu by preference, not the narlagon), initiates the active buff on my target, emotes that I'm humming a tune for my target, starts an alarm that goes off in 6 minutes, pauses for 5 minutes and 50 seconds, emotes that I will be 'just a moment,' and then my alarm goes off, at which point I typically send a tell to the buffee that it should be done and they can do /stoplisten now.
I get distracted very easily, so I need those little reminders. I should probably put another call to a macro in there to /changem virtuoso just in case I'm not playing that already...and maybe do a set of flourishes that I know will run 6 minutes. If youhave Player Music turned down pretty low and Sound Effects turned up in Sound Options, you can hear the alarm over the general music/band noise, too.
It does?
What /alias generates is different than a system message.. It goes to whatever chat box is active. With my recent abuse of the alias system (Aliases calling aliases redefining aliases, and such) I had to find a way to hide that.. And I did, by creating a new chat window and hiding the original, those messages go to the chat window attached to the input box, not the new chat window. However, system messages (You flourish, you get XP, etc) still go to the box I have system messages defined for. I don't have them set to go to the center of the screen though so not sure if they go there.
Good tip on the alarm to generate a system message... And to do one immediately, just tell it to do it in 0 seconds.
