Thread: /tip 500 group?
This would really make more people tip...
Now I almost know someone is going to cry AFKers, but then id say its the group leaders job to kick them from the group.
If you allow division of money to be determined by wheter a person is AFK, then you will just have a lot of AFKers without tags =(
And IMO thats worse than them getting some money, without working for it.
It really cant be that hard to implement... if nothing else just make it look like they are looting 500c of my corpse =)

Why is it not possible to tip the entire group?

Ooh, a suggestion to have a responsible group leader? A suggestion to encourage people to focus on the performance instead of the XP? Wonderful suggestion.
This has been suggested before. I think it's still a good idea. It was nicer back in the old days, methinks, but it's still a perfectly valid suggestion.
I can see a group in Coronet or Theed that is dedicated to AFK fellowship. I see that now. A sample of the conversation I saw in Theed is:
Newcomer: Can I get an invite?
Leader: Sorry, the group is full.
Newcomer: Could you boot an AFKer?
Leader: No, we don't boot AFKers.
Newcomer: Why not?
Leader: Because I don't want to be kicked when I'm AFK.
So, these people might be willing to keep AFK groups.
But then, that's mostly a problem in the mega-cities. A small group in Anchorhead or Kor Vella would be able to manage their group more easily.
And the logistical nightmare of Coronet and Theed shouldn't be a deterrent for this feature. There are plenty of good uses of this. In fact, someone may see a need for a /grouptip in other situations. Like if you are knocked incapped and wounded badly on Endor. And then when a hunting group shows up and nurses you back to health with a camp and a traveling entertainer and medic, then you can just tip the entire group. I imagine that /grouptip won't be useful for nonentertainers, but it's worth keeping the option open.

Tipping SHOULD be a group funtion allowed by the leader. Entertainer leaders need more perks and commands - as do squad leaders.
AFK'ing is problematic no matter how you look at it. The real problem is that those who WERE CH how WANT to be JEDI have to spend nights playing and dancing... GO FIGURE... it's not their fault the devs had no imagination however.
Even before the Jedi-crisis, I lead many a packed entertainer group in Theed. I was iffy on dropping ppl who afk'd til one night someone came in and DEMANDED that i kick an afk'r so they could join the group and get xp. Well, I relented... seconds later THAT PLAYER went AFK.
NEVER AGAIN! After that it was first come, first serve. And I would ONLY kick LD'rs or ppl who wandered out of the cantina. I learned you had to keep track of them, because some would wander off and get out of range - and you could'nt kick them anymore. Being leader for me was a VERY active job - and I tried to keep ppl healed around me (even AFK'rs).
That's MY opinion, anyway. Oh yea... Group Tipping would be good. ![]()
You can't make a system within the game that can prevent AFKers from getting xp and money.
But you can encourage resposible band leaders...
(okay this was also a semi-/bump :smileysurprised![]()
Group tip not a bad idea.
Just posted my first post on this board in another thread but no one will read it cuz its too big but I will say here briefly... dont look at the Holocron thing as a crisis if anything I think its actually good for the profession. Hear me out...
As a semi-power gamer there is no way I would have ever taken up entertainer. I admit I plan to buzz through as much as I can, and I may be afk on weekends or overnight but when I get home tonight, well, I will be in front of the keyboard like anyone else. As I rummage through the professions (10 done holo silent atm) I do try to learn a little and get some enjoyment from each one, and I have. I even learned some stuff mastering Image Designer over the last couple nights (horrid profession should just be a skill line in ent not a whole profession dedicated to it).
The fact that people are 'forced' into the entertainment profession might spark some interest and liven up some cantinas (mostly in big cities yes) whereas without people flocking to it for "easy xp on the way to jedihood" there would be a lot less entertainers and more empty cantinas.
I do not see myself being an entertainer once I am done with the masteries, I admit that, but I am enjoying it more than I thought I would and if even just a handful of holocron-chasers are exposed to it and think to themselves "hey once I get my Jedi I can totally see returning to entertainer with my main character since its a nice easy-going social profession as opposed to a Jedi grind" then I think the profession is ahead of the game.
Some of my worst experiences was being a BH and walking into empty cantina after empty cantina all over the galaxy with 200+ BF and 100+ mind wounds. At least now whether they are holo-chasers or afk-macroers or both, there are more singers and dancers around.
And finally like I posted elsewhere, man the devs did a heck of a job with these professions. The moves are realistic and almost mesmerizing at times. I never would have thought they would have put so much effort into a profession they figured many people would not choose as their primary profession (lets face it when the game came out you have to think most people bought it to hear the sound of blaster fire and kill stormtroopers or PvP) and even when I am power-gaming for xp I kind of look forward to seeing cool dance moves and hearing big bands play the star wars tunes.

Except the last two times I've tried to boot someone who left, LD'd or was AFK, it didn't work. I kept trying it from the menu and the only thing we could do was completely disband and reform.
*sigh*

This is a very nice vision. Unfortunately, the reality are these are in the minority. In fact, the people who might have enjoyed it may feel that because they are forced to it, they are hell bent on not enjoying it. (And why does everyone say they are forced to do something just because a mystic voice told them to? Last I checked everyone here still had free will.)

Did you check the map for registration? Did you use the search feature to find any entertainers with their tag up?
Interestingly, a /bandtip command was, way back when, the Number 3 Issue for Musicians. Number 3! Now it barely registers in my polling. Personally, I've always thought it would be nice to have the option, at least, to tip a whole band. But I don't think I've ever had a dev response on this issue, and I'm less likely to get one now that the issue has fallen to about number 20 on Musicians' wish lists. ![]()
BTW, pardon me for lurking here; as we are between Entertainer Correspondents, I thought I should pop in now and then and see what's shaking.
