Thread: A musician macro that actually sounds good?

First off, I am not looking for a afk macro..

I am looking for a macro or at least a set of flourishes that actually look / soundlikeactual music instead of some tone deaf freak blowing randomly into an instrument he obviously never played before in my life.

Anyone have some good ones or can point me to the thread I couldn't find that contains this info? I actually did look btw, but all I found was threads saying macro /flo 1-8 in order (which sounds terrible) or people flaming about afk macroers... or more usually.. threads that contained both...hehe.

My recommendation is spend some time playing the music with hotkeys. Learn the different sounds. As you find things that sound good together, make note of them. (Use the /notepad for easy notes.) Once you have a good number of these, you can string them together to make music.

Then do this for other instruments as you please.

That way you will get a sound that is all your own. I could tell you some of my favorites, but then you'd just be playing my music. There is such a thread somewhere but I'm not sure where.

If you still want some ideas instead of finding your own, let me know.

do a search on the entertainer forum for the name "Tiaga"

he made some nice posts about macros... . .

I'd look them up for you, but it would put the robots out of a job.

Thanks for the compliment there. However, unless I'm forgetting about something, the stuff I have written more covers the technical side of things, not the artistic side.

If anyone could find the thread, I would love to hear Tiaga's compositions.

I'm not a musician in game, but I've done some composing in real life. The main problem with SWG's music system is that there's ALWAYS a skipped beat after any flourish. Maybe it's just for me, I dunno. But it was so bad that I had to completely disable player music because it drove me nuts to haveno properrhythm =)

I guess you're right about that.

Anyway, there's also the song macro exchange thread that won't die since the first week of the game. it's on here somewhere with like 7 or 8 song macros, some including lyrics.

Ah yes, that's the thread I was thinking of.. Couldn't think of anything to search for to find it though.

Well I haven't posted any.

I have something for starwars3 I've been playing around with since I learned to play the nalargon. Though I'm not entirely happy with it at the moment.

But if you want to hear the nalargon part it is.. (Substituting 0 to mean no flourish)

start-01 2635 2635 7778 4444 2635 2635 7778 4444 7081 3454 2635 7778 4444-end

It sounds a bit repetative in some parts, but it's designed to be played by more than one part.. For example, the 4444 is played as (Substituting _ for a pause) _334 on the Chid and __66 on the Traz. (And I think ___4 on the Ommnibox, but don't remember)

Maybe when I get home I'll pull it out into my sound editor to try and compose something more complete that sounds good. The one time I heard it with 4 parts, it just sounded too "noisy".

Maybe I'll even make an MP3 of it if I get something decent, so people can hear it without the annoying pause, and without chasing down a full band and teaching them how to hit /pausemusic on cue.

Ah, I see, well if you ever do post em... I'm working on trying to make my sw1 on the mande sound like something really really rocker (and I made myself the equivalent of red leather pants to go with it). Next I suppose I'll work on ceremonial and then waltz. Lots of people getting married and I would like to have ceremonial and waltz songs for them. For me, coming up with songs is 10x harder than coming up with outfits to wear. And that's why I'm doing it!
