Thread: Suggestion for AFK entertainers

My Holocron told me to become a Master Dancer. I've fooled around with Entertaining before, and it wasn't really my thing, so I have some sympathy for the AFK grinders. That said, I miss the pre-Holocron cantinas, where I used to enjoy spending my healing time.

I think that anyone who is going to grind Entertainer/Musician/Dancer while AFK should have the decency to either:

A) move to the BACK ROOM of a cantina (that way people who don't intend to tip or socialize while healing can go back there and watch the bots, and the grinders can still hope for some Ent. Healing experience) or

B) practice in the privacy of their own homes.

Then the rest of us can go back to enjoying the Cantina as a place to socialize again.

I agree, but it's not going to happen. There will always be people who won't care that they are bothering you.

Well first of all, I only have entertainer because it is the last novice profession I have yet to master. I put it off until the end on purpose. I have found it to be mind-numbly boring. So the only way I was going to master it without going into a comma was to use a macro while I was afk. Now that all I have left is ID 4 I will no longer be taking up space in YOUR cantinas. My point is that I have paid my money to play SWG just the same as you and therefore I can choose to play anyway I want as long as it doesn't violate any policies. Currently using an afk macro doesn't qualify. How does an afk entertainer prvent you from socializing? If a player is afk then you and your friends can talk freely regardless. I've noticed that a lot of the "hardcore" entertainersseem prettyarrogant when it comes to people who just want to dabble in it. On mysever we hadone group ofentertainers get another group banned from a player city because they were dancing infront of them. If someone is holo grinding then the best policy is to just leave them alone. They willbe gonesoon. I think all the complaining about afk is ridiculous. Dudes, this is a game. Not everyone will play it the same way you do. And don't try and tell others how to play.

uhh aren't you basicly telling us how to play in this post? ie just live with a crappy situation because others have no common curtisey or respect? in a game or in life that is something you should always have...

Nobody is telling you how to play. We're just telling you how you should be when you are not playing (IE not at your computer). You on the other hand, are telling us how to play.

I think showing courtesy toward your fellow players is a good thing. Things that may not annoy you may annoy others and vice versa. I think it's important to respect other people's opinions in society, especially when they are professionals when you are a tourist. Examples:

  • People spamming the starport.

  • How about people running around in their underpants?

  • Registering unstocked vendors on the planetary map to get xp?

  • Placing harvesters in front of your house?

  • Visual harassment (i.e. standing in your personal space)?

  • Entrance fees, when there is nothign of value in the house?

Any of these things you might consider rude, but they're technically allowed. It's not "telling people how to play" if you ask them not to do things that you and others consider rude.
