As it has been stated before, AFK this, AFK that. Are AFK entertainers/dancers/musicians really the issue. Perhaps for anyone in one of the three professions trying to communicate with anyone else. I believe the real issue is gaining xp. I'm by no means an aspiring entertainer, but I did happen to snag novice before a hunt on dathomir since there is hardly ever an entertainer there. I figured what better way to help out the group than to heal their mind and BF if needed. Well, its not that I use it all that often and I haven't attempted it in groups, but from what I can see in terms of gaining experience, the people who are present are being almost punished by the AFK healers. You can call this a rant if you wish but I felt the need to tell the entertainer community that a combat profession thinks you are being shafted. I think the dev's should definitely look into awarding those dancers who are present to talk to, but not to punish people who are AFK. Honestly, what entertainer is going to want to dance in the tavern at Dathomir's Science Outpost and talk to no one, save for the occassional wounded person to stumble by.
The short of this is.... award entertainers who are present and contributing to the galaxy in a way more than just healing.

Since you mention the Dath outpost..
The times I've been there that there hasn't been a heal-bot, it's been quite a good time. People come in and out regularly, the people are nice to talk to.. You get to look shocked at the person that comes in with nearly a black mind bar, and find out they are a CM who was healing mind damage... It's been quite a good time. Sometimes I even skipped the real reason I was there just to spend the time dancing.
The times I've been there that a heal-bot has been there, it hasn't bee terribly fun. People don't stick around as much, they are usually silent when they are there, and it just isn't the same. Unfortunately, this has been most the time. On my server we've got a heal-bot parked in Dath outpost, one in the mining outpost on Dant, and probably a few others. By their presence, there is no reason for a real entertainer to ever visit. Fortunately, I've been there for other reasons, since I gave up the pure entertainer route. The game just isn't friendly towards a pure entertainer right now.
For me, it has nothing to do with xp, or with money. It has to do with enjoying the class. Being an entertainer can be a lot of fun. But, to use an analogy, you could have the best meal in the world and you still won't enjoy it if you are right next to the city dump. The point being, this is a social class, for the people that enjoy it, it isn't from their own playstyle, but from everyone around them, and the environment they are in. If that environment isn't very interesting (Such as a bunch of bots) the class won't be very interesting.

My issue is not the AFK entertainer. My issue is the AFK spammer.

Exactly. Some of us aren't concerned with money or experience.I continue to play all three entertainment classes because I enjoy doing so
. As a Master, I don't need any more experience (and I've reached the limits anyway so I don't even get any anymore heehee
).
So, it's not an issue of experience with everyone.
