Thread: What are the two most important issues facing entertainers today?

I think i was missunderstood there. My point wasn't that i felt they could or should be part of a combat team. It was to point out that since these professions are basically in town players, they should be compensated in a way that it's beneficial for them to stay there. Having those skills as a sideline would ensure the cantinas and fun are ongoing! And a great place for everyone and their friends to socialize on much needed downtime.
Hmmm... I'm sorry, I've re-read your original comments and I don't think I misunderstood them. Paraphrased, what you said was "Crafting and Dancing aren't real professions and should just be hobbies that don't require skill points and don't require much in the way of advancement." Essentially, you're claiming that they should be EQ-style tradeskills instead of "classes" and that everyone in the game should be able to do them.
Once you delete the crafters and the entertainers, what's left besides the combat professions and the medics?
For the sake of argument... i never even implied that these classes were in anyway disposable!! Or for that matter NOT real professions! My ultimate point was to make the class more open to bring more people into these professions! Geez...as an entertainer i needed my favorite Tailor, ... and the friends who came in to have fun conversation! I just feel that it's sad (and it was for me to drop those skills) most have left because they felt it wasn't worth doing anymore. IF... these classes were professions that you could choose to do.. maybe by making the point system lower we would see more people enjoying the fun and the cantinas filled with players!

This discussion is drifting off topic, so we should pursue it in a new thread if we're going to. I'd like to keep this one for ideas to send on to the devs. I just don't think you should be surprised that someone would take a bit of umbrage when you come into a forum and say "I propose that we get rid of your profession (and every other professions that doesn't wield a blaster) and give your skills to every player in the game instead."
Well.. i thought that's what i was doing when i started voicing my opinion. Hum... I never once stated in my post that we should GET RID of these classes at all! Far from my original post, or imply that a blaster is the end all of the game.
But it would be nice to let others enjoy this class also. Also.. to bring up the mission payouts so that these professionals can do thier job more effeciently!
Thanks for the imput though.. i find it quite interesting how one perceives anothers opinion! You can either see the glass being 1/2 empty? or 1/2 full! I prefer the latter... and was hoping by my post to enhance the class... not take away from it by any means.
No reason to do entertainer missions delivery missions & artisian pay out more
no rewards for entertainer missions
gee an insturment or a set of pretty clothes would be nice or a travel ticket off world to another cantina
no way to earn a living since though players horde there funds they certainly do not share it with their entertainers on their own heals
some type of /flat fee given to an entertainer group per hour they are there with a simimar survey event to see if they are at the key board given by house cantina
at this point there is no point to staying in the proffession because only a few get any type of regular tips
lower cost of novice training would be a big help

We DO have other ways of making money. My toon's personal fortune is right around 900,000 credits, earned as part of a thriving mining business.
Mining is true for every profession.. heck i could make more mining than i do architecting at our current prices.. ANYONE can mine, you can even rent out your lots to ppl for money per week to start off with to get money to buy harvesters.. Thats not a solution to the entertainer specific problem, especially for people who want to be entertainers, not miners (altho mining is the quickest way to riches in the game)
1. Master Entertainer, this needs some rework. Its very dumb that my master *musician* cannot play a specific song or instrument that is only for the ME. Its hard to say what to do here though as entertainer is very diverse, dancing, music, image design. (is image design REALLY entertainment? )
2. The way xp works is way too slow. I love the idea that you get more xp when you are in a band, but what about giving a bonus to xp when you are the ONLY entertainer in a cantina/hotel? And have the xp scale from the core planets out. So you would get decent xp in the core cities in the various bands since you are grouped, but also get decent xp out on less traveled planets.. Or even missions that would offer you better xp plus some payout to go and perform at these planets for a while. (guess it would be too hard for mission terminals to track how many entertainers were in a specific cantina ).. I prefer less crowded cantinas as all the skill animating of the more popular joints would crash my computer often.. but the xp really sucked there :/ The missions could give you a roundtrip travel ticket and give you better xp while you performed on a less populated planet (since i know travel tickets to advanced planets are costly). It would be a huge perk to get free travel ![]()
After all that AFK macroing and mission talk i want to adress my personal two problems that should be fixed for the entertainers.
1. Fix the action-usage for the professions. It cant be that a ME, MM or MD uses the same amount of action at the same speed like a novice so that a master isjust as quickexhaustedlike a novice.
This is especially meant for the MD. You know that the exotic dance is a real action burner and you can only dance it for a fewmins until you are exhausted ... a novice doing basic is laughing at you then because hes still dancing. Same goes out for falling, masters hit the floor just as often like novices but arent masters supposed to be better than them ... ?
2. Fix the dances before adding new ones. Formal and Lyrical are quite some good dances and nice to look at ... as long as you look at it on your own computer, the audience only sees some glitching and gliding on the ground from the dancer (except for the flourishes). I dont know if that suits the aspect of fixing (for me its a bug), but please add more flourishes to the advanced dances, 3 flourishes for a master dance is just a joke...
I hope you get my points ... its 4am here and i feel a lack of english knowledge at the moment /grin
First issue is the lack of respect form the rest of the community.
Second issue is master of the profession benifts the musician more so than the other 2

- More songs and dances. Variety is good. I'm afraid if this doesn't happen, at least for music (I don't dance so can't address dances really), people are going to leave the profession not because they don't enjoy performing but because they just can't stand to hear those songs anymore. I still enjoy them and have even surprised people with starwars1 cause they never heard a full range band (nalargon, mandovial, ommni, both horn types) play it. In time though, even that will get old. I think we still have quite a bit of time till new songs are *needed*, but I'd rather see them start working on them now than wait too long.
This is in the works. There are no hard details and no delivery dates promised so don't hold your breath for it. I'd expect player cities and vehicles to be fully operational and mostly bug-free before the devs focus a lot of attention to this area. I do believe we'll see some new dances and music sometime before the space expansion. Again, this is not a promise of any kind so don't come searching for me with torches and pitchforks six months from now shouting "where are our new dances????" ![]()

The tunes/dances do scale up at about the same rate. That is, a master playing virtuoso will use comparable action to that of a novice entertainer playing starwars1. Alternatively, though, that master should have no problem playing starwars1 pretty much non-stop. Ditto for falling. Ravenmist, the dancer correspondent, has put these issues before the devs, so they're aware of our concerns in this area.
Some good news on the dancing front - some detective work between the correspondents and the developers resulted in the discovery of a problem in the dance base action costs. There should be an adjustment in the next monthly "big patch" that will bring dancers action costs down to roughly equal those of the musicians. It should make a huge difference in dancer's stamina.
Do be aware, though, that flourishes are "tuned" for an ideal rate of two every ten seconds for musicians and one every ten seconds for dancers. Musicians have their flourishes queued up so they can't actually exceed that rate. Dance flourishes, on the other hand, have varying durations and take effect immediately. This is handy for changing flourishes "mid-flourish". You can pull off some nice "hybrid" moves that way. The flip side, though, is that you can drain your action bar very quickly if you do non-stop dance flourishes. Keep it to one every time the experience counter ticks and (after the base cost adjustment next patch) you should find that you are able to extend your performance significantly.
2. Fix the dances before adding new ones. Formal and Lyrical are quite some good dances and nice to look at ... as long as you look at it on your own computer, the audience only sees some glitching and gliding on the ground from the dancer (except for the flourishes).
They're aware of this bug in formal and lyrical. I'd say it's just a matter of getting it moved up the priority list. I would expect a fix for this to be "down the road" a ways still.
well I'm new to this prof ( I'm a wookie entertainer
) but yet I have seen a lot of problems, first the dance suck and there aren't many dances, the same goes for music. de instruments are stupid and boring and the songs to! a dancing wookie is pretty funny, but is DOES get REALLY REALLY BORING after an hour. the missions are just simply a HUGE JOKE! the payoffs are just plain poor. I mean I could to 1K missions just for destroying a nuna lair ( wich is like EXTREMLY easy!! ) I am going to mix dancer with rifleman so I will get good payoffs as a rifleman, but when your concentrating on entertaining, the pay offs sucks, and the game is boring. dancing HOURES and HOURES in the cantina can and WILL be getting boring!
I mean an entertainer should travel a lot to differtent places and entertain people. to differeten cantina's ( with GOOD payoff. I mean the TRIP costs more than the PAY OFF!!! ) etc...
oh well. the fact is the developers just don't give a **edit** about entertainer, all the fighting classes are bitching about nerfs this and that and the dev. FIX IT. but what has been fixed or improved for US?? ==> NOTHING! dancing at the cantina is boring after a while, nobody gives tips anymore, the missions are a huge joke and are worthless. the dances are getting boring because you don't have much dances, same with music and image designers are just stupid, because they don't have any special to keep other players interesed.
instead op fixed the 1000th commando/pistoleer bug. they should fix the 1st enterainment bugs....
lol and also since i'm a wookie, GET MORE WOOKIE CLOTHS!!!! ![]()

1. Missions need to be fun and pay more have us play at a theater and have crowds and get money! BUT there should something to keep us wanting to play at the cantina instead of us just doing missions all day
2. We should be able to heal mind damage, currently CM can do it on test center but we shoud be able to heal mind damage since our whole profession is meant for mind. make it something you throwable like posion stims CM haveor something so we can be useful on the field. Also we need to be able to buff OURSELFS
1) Mission ~ Entertainer missions are not worth the time it takes to stand there and click refresh. Most missions are out of town and the ticket costs more than the payoff.
2)Wasted experience ~ Suggestion ... once a person makes master, allow them to use the exp points they accumulate to buy more flourishes, songs/dances, bonuses to heal, etc.
On AFKers ... I must confess to AFK playing. However, I spend a HUGE amount of time present and accounted for. I play at an extremely remote outpost. I am the only regular entertainer and the denizens of said outpost are very thankful that I'm occasionally there AFK. I don't AFK play for the money or the exp but as my way to help my choice of faction. The outpost is not the other thing remote, the planet is remote as well AND the entire place is very entertainer limited. There are servers where the AFK player/dancer serves a profound purpose. Some folks do not leave the planet to go hopping to find someone to heal their mind wounds and battle fatigue. I don't know if ya'll have noticed but the search window stinks. When was the last time you used it to try to find someone to help you out and it didn't display anybody? Instead, they wait until they have no color in their bars at all because the cost of leaving their planet is too much to warrant leaving before that. Incidentally, when I afk play, I back myself into a corner so that if someone does come in, they have center stage.
1. AFK macroing ... blech. Hard to get into groups, no one wants to tip, etc. This needs to go away because it hurts all entertainers. I know it's a horrible grind to gain xp but if it is so bad for you then do something else as a profession.
2. Dances blow. Footloose and poplock especially. You see a lot of dancers grinding popular 2 (lower level dance) until they unlock exotic I and II.
