Thread: AFK Musicans and Dancers who Macro
If I were you, I'd be more worried that people won't take you seriously as a Master Dancer.
------------------------
I don't care if they do or not. I'm more interested that they take me seriously as a roleplayer. Trust me... it's hard not to when someone is seriously roleplaying.
-------------------------
Other entertainers may look at a Master Dancer or Master Musician and wonder if he actually deserves the title.
-------------------------
Presumably they will know it by my roleplaying. Someone who RPs heavily is not likely to be an AFK macroer.
---------------------
So, the proof is in the pudding. If you see a Master Dancer come in and just dance and spam, ridicule the snot out of him. If the Master Musician comes in and chats people up, then you know he's worthy.
--------------------
Not quite sure of a few things. (a) Why would anyone else bother to care how I got to Master Dancer status? (b) Why would I bother to care how they think I got there.
After spending some time with my PC I can be sure of one thing: You will unquestioningly know that I am a roleplayer, and if I may say so, a pretty darn good one at that. Anything else is basically a moot point, IMO...

I run a macro while I'm playing so that I can interact with people. Sometimes I need to check my mail, sometimes its to scroll back to see what tips I missed. (Anyone else notice how much system spam entertainers get?) I rarely leave the keyboard while macroing except for the occasional bio-break.
Grexor what it says it macro. It does not specify in game or out but if you read the paragraph as a whole you will see that the whole pointis that there is to be no use ofmacros or 3rd party programs for gaining xps while afk. If they were to have added 3rd party macros that would've been redundant as they would've fallen under 3rd party applications by default.
Everyone is grasping at straws trying tweak the reading of TOS while totally disgarding what it says. No afk xp'ing.
One would expect it to mention "use of the SWG native macro system for AFK experience gain is prohibited". Notice, it does not.

I feel like the only way to compete is to stoop to that level too. Can a creature handler get master by going afk for days on end? a smuggler? bounty hunter? why can dancers/musicians get master without ever evening playing the freaking game.
I could show you how to afk level creature handler. Just because people think it can't be done, doesn't mean that some people haven't already discovered how to do it. Smuggler and BH are a bit tougher, but I think I could find a way to do most of their trees afk. =)
BH needs Master Scout... and Scouts tend to macro the camp xp portion of their game ![]()
Personally, if there's that many people macroing something, it means there's a problem with the advancement design. I'm sorry but I'm not going to sit at my computer in a cantina, where the only nonafk audience is too busy cybering the lapdancers to actually converse, and I'm stuck playing sw2 because every novice entertainer and their mother feels like they should get to level up.
I do go to out of the way places sometimes, and get a few more responses from people while they're healing. But the majority of the people plop their butts down in a cantina and then go afk. That makes things boring for me. 90% of my conversations while I'm playing is with guildmates or fellow entertainers because of it. When I'm done for the night, I leave my macro running, and I just head off to bed. I'm still providing a needed service for the people that listen to me, since I usuallyplay in out of the way places.
A lot of entertainers complain that we don't get enough "respect" from the other players. Some people say, "That is because you AFKed your way up levels" but I'm not sure that's entirely it.
I think the problem goes to what happens when several people in a given town, with its cantina, are prone to things like this -- the "overnight while in bed" AFK macro, or the "turn it on and go to work" AFK macro.
If you do these things, it makes entertainers something that may not be so desirable: readily available. Players know there will always be at least one person AFKing in the cantina, so they start taking entertainers for granted. When you get taken for granted you don't get any respect; instead, you start getting treated like part of the furniture.
Want more tips, or bigger tips, or more respect? Remember that such things follow the law of Supply and Demand. If there are always "bot" entertainers available, you will get none of these things, because there is more supply than there is demand. If, on the other hand, only people actually playing the game at-keyboard danced and played music, there wouldn't be any bots. The Supply would be lower, the Demand would remain the same, and suddenly you'd have people /tell'ing you while you are doing other things going, "Hey! Come dance for me in the cantina I am wounded and nobody is here!" Suddenly, as an entertainer, you have the leverage. Not because of anything specific you did, but because the entertainers are now individually needed by the players.
So for those who say "AFK Macroing in the cantina doesn't hurt anyone," here is one reason why I fundamentally disagree -- aside from the various other reasons such as rude macro spammers and lack of respect from other viewpoints, they are making our class be taken for granted. It's when you are taken for granted, that all sorts of nasty things like obnoxiousness from other players come into effect.
