I'll tell you why we are crying over it, ShadowProject. Because right now, there are about 25 entertainers who still play this thing on Bria. Only 25. Not 25 at any one time. 25 total. We are getting fewer every week. And if you do not think that this impacts our gameplay, how else can you explain why entertainers are not playing as much as they used to? How else can you explain this rapid decline of interest and appreciation in these professions? Now whether or not this concerns you is hardly the issue. It is happening, and that's a fact. What's more, there are more and more alts that are created to fulfil our roles. Alts that are created by guilds, cities, and solo players who make no bones about the fact that they never intend to play them any further than programming their code so as to interact with the game world without a presance behind the keys. And I'm not saying that its right or wrong that this is happening, but I do have to say that I feel for you all who need our services a lot more than us.
Because while you may think that what we do is boring, I'd have to imagine that it is just as boring to watch an unattended character do its exotic 4 in the obligatory +10% jabba clothing. And yes, you get the buff. But you also have your ctrl-c screen on watching the BF tick down. You also press alt-tab. You also put up your timer to see when the agony--agonythat is similar to standing at the ticket droid--is finally over for you. And that is why we do the things we do, so you have something amusing to see and do at the cantina while your BF and buffs are tended to. So you don't have to be bored.
But even if you do not care about this aspect of what we do, I would start thinking of living in a world of dedicated bots. Because its happening. And if it ever comes to the point where most or all of the entertainment mechanics are issued by vaccant alts, then you guys will be in serious, SERIOUS trouble. Because the only reason buffbots are created is to be of some benefit to an owner and his friends. They aren't made to cash in credits. While this often happens, buffbots have been, are now, and alwayswill be created even if there are no credits involved. They are created to influence a particular environment to the owners liking. And if that means /denying all the rebels on the server, or /denying people who beat him or her in PvP, or /denying people who do not 5-star his posts, access to a buffbot is a sure fire way to show his displesaure. Because the buffbot owner is not concerned with having people use the buffbot as much as limiting people from using the buffbot. Because why should a player pay an extra $15 a month to give his or her rivalsor strangers just as much benefit as him or herself? THAT's what life will be like for you all in a world of buffbots.

At least you log him out, ShadowProject. That's more than most unattendees do these days.

So, basically people pay to not play the game as much as possible? Why not just remove all of these macros that make AFKing possible...

And we've now come full circle, and up to the present.
We've been begging for this. We're still begging for this.

"Face it, unless you view SWG as a $15 a month interactive chat room, entertainer, muscian, ID, and dancer are just plain boring. You sit in a cantina and do nothing but chat, and do flourishes."
Another player who fundamentally misunderstands why entertainer is so alluring. He's probably never seen a real entertainer show either.

He explains it by reference to his bigoted notion that entertainingcannot be fun - for anyone. According to his philosophy, the real question is not "why are entertainers leaving the profession" - that question is a no-brainer. His question is "why did anyone become an entertainer in the first place?" He cannot understand why anyone would view entertaining as more fun than shooting things.

Agreed. I mean, by his definition, since I find the concept of Smuggler the way it is today immensely boring, they should just remove it from the game.
Sorry Shadow, doesn't work like that. ![]()
