Blast cant edit.. wanted to add one last thing:

My explanation of soothing tunes may have not been the best explanation.. perhaps a better would be something such as a war ballad song.. something that pushes you on.

For example.. when I am doing hard labor around my house or my yard.. I like to listen to really loud rock becuase it keeps my mind off being tired while I sing along/enjoy it.. and it keeps me working hard until I am finished.

Attribute that to keeping your mind off your wounds.. or fatigue etc.. and it becomes an issue of Mind over matter. Perhaps there can be a new instrument that a master entertanier or novice musican can use or something such as that which is used in battle to help people not think about their wonds.. thus healnig their mind while they fight.

Just a thought.

The final note I'll make is that the performance professions seem very very well designed for people who never want to go into the field, and want a sense of advancement and accomplishment while they're in town.

Exactly! It's a valid playstyle and some of us really enjoy it. You want to change the expectations other players have for the performers who just want to perform in cantinas/homes.

Saying you want to use your entertainer skills in the field, and that you're not happy with just pistoleer skills being useful in combat... It doesn't sound like a valid argument. I mean c'mon...they have different classes in this game so you can mix and match, but they don't have any class that can just do anything anywhere. What good are marksman skills in a cantina? What good are brawler skills when you're crafting?

You are absolutely right, they do not bark and they do not heal, instead they put the radio on the speakers throughout the battlefield so the troops morale is uplifted.

*Remembers a famous German song which is adapted worldwide for war purposes*

Bob Hope is another example, try Robin Williams in Good morning Vietnam or the performers in the movie The great Escape or...

And ummmm, you guys mention Patton, you just shot your whole argument in the foot by using him as example, soldier hitting General who get's pulled from active duty.
