Thread: most youve ever been tipped?
The day after I started my entertainer character somebody asked me to change their hair color, and tipped 3k! Of course, I've never gotten more than 500 after that, but it was a lovely start.
Its all about how you play it. If you just make a macro, sit back and wait for tips to start pouring in, then you are entirely on the wrong track. Remember, players come into cantinas for actual entertainment and RPing, not just healing wounds and such. I have some alts and a couple are entertainers. When Im entertaining i really getin character and have fun with it. One night i pulled in 57,000 credits in tips in a matter of a couple hours. The key is to make a really hot female character and flirt heavily with all the guys that come in hehe.
Its true that people don't tend to tip very well, but if you really get in character and enjoy yourself, other's will enjoy watching you and tip accordingly.
I tell jokes while i play my instrument. Really bad jokes, so I get tips from people trying to get me to stop. I made 10k once, and an added tip of 'don't quit your day job'. But on avergae I do pretty well with tips, I guess its because I try to be an entertaining entertainer.
I Play a dancer/muscian as main character... I left the unpronouncable random character generator name as my name.
As a dancer I was tipped 75K in credits, an R2 droid, a pet, a full set of bone armour, and a scout blaster as a signle set of tips. There were 5 different groups that were going out hunting and wanted me to go... they got into a tip war, and when the realized what had happened (I told them and offered to give it back), they decided that they could group and we all went hunting. By the time we were done I had made Novice Marksman, and had Pistol I done. IT WAS A BLAST... (Yes I wear various clothes that my father would not have allowed me to wear out of the house irl)
As a musician, I have received about 10K. But then I always wear more respectable clothes. I met my game boy friend, and house mate, while being a musician. He was commenting about how he thought some of those dancer outfits were amazing, so I started modeling for him. He gave me a house, and then moved in with me...
I have played other characters, but like my entertainer best.
The most I've ever received is 5k, by a player who stuck around for a good half-hour or soafter getting healed because "it was worth it to see a keyboard entertainer". That made my night (well, and picking up Music III not long afterward).
I've never received goods as tips, but I've only started focusing as an entertainer/musician recently (got out of the game for two months due to moving). I do consider someone healing my action pool a tip, though.
Im new to the entertainer bit, I had Dancing 3 abit before, but that was just from a Kryat hunt lol.
Highest I've been tipped so far (since restarting this professions) was 5k.
Myself tipped someone 50k on Bria when I quit that server. Very nice people before the holocron craze.
And here I thought I was going to win for biggest tip. Instead, it looks like I've tied.
I, too, just happened to greet and be friendly to an enterring patron who happened to be leaving the game, and seeking out people to distribute his creds to. After speaking with him for a couple minutes as I do most patrons, he tips me 250k.
My eyes bugged out of my head. I asked him if he meant to do that, and offered to give it back. This was when he explained that he was leaving the game.
Me? "So, distributing your wealth before you go? That's cool. Well, if you don't find anyone else you deem worthy, you can always come back and give me some more." Mei Cathak winks.
His reponse? Tipping me 750k, for a grand total of one million credits. I still haven't spent them all. And the weirdest thing was, I was still a novice entertainer. Maybe he just really wanted to help a newbie...?
