I posted this in the thread I was discussing my tests, but as it is very relevant I thought I'd post it here also.

Sorry for the duplication

********************************

At great expense of personal dignity, I have done experiments regarding these new quests, XP requirements and the reward itself. OK so here are the final results of the experiment I did. I tested all on Dance, but as everything between the two is VERY linked, I believe it will hold true for music.

  • At Novice (ie 0000) I was able to bank 350,000 xp

  • At Knowledge 1 (ie 0010) I was able to bank 500,000 xp

Looking at these and knowing that at 0030 you can bank 900,000 xp it looks as if the caps are 4x the next box amount. I believe that this is not due to them setting it there, but that the box costs used to be double. A safe bet is that at 0020 you can bank 700,000 xp.

I learned the new piece (OK I have both, but specifically dance) at 0010 and surrendered back to Master Music / Master Entertainer (ie I have dance 1-4 in entertainer, but I do not even posess Novice Dance) and..........

I did not lose the dance. I was still able to perform it. At Master Entertainer! WITHOUT Novice Dancer!

It appears that the "Novice" on the scroll to learn it is redundant. You need to be Novice to have the XP, and apparently you do not need to keep Novice to continue to use it.

NJ,

being really optimistic here, but since they kinda slipped up, any chance the devs could link to Kyorlana's guide, possibly add it in as a Friday Feature (saves TH having to think up too much) or at least add it in the community links page. Be an easy opportunity to make up for their mistake.

I'm curious if anyone else has had difficulty with the audience saying all their likes/dislikes.

For example, on the second show, the guide I read said the audience expects two preferred songs and two preferred flourishes. However, out of these 4 pieces of information, I'll usually only get half at best. I've even had friends in the audience talking to people while I'm on stage before the show starts doing the /conv trick mentioned in the guide. Even between us, we don't ever seem to get all the required information.

Am I just doing something wrong? It seem to me that the hardest part of the quest is squeezing the information out of the audience, which really has nothing to do with my skills as an entertainer. If I have the information I need, I'll blow their socks off!

It seems to be a roll of the dice. The NPC speak from a random list of junk and actual hints. How many of those end up being useful hints is random. Musicians are actually lucky this lack of useful information seems to be hitting the dancers far more frequently.

The only firm one is the audition it's always song, 2 flourish, change song, 2 flourish.

The rest are random. Key thing is each person has only one thing to say so make sure you get everyone once.

The problem red-dwarf is that whether or not an NPC gives you that needed information is definitely a random thing. So if all NPC don't select useful information in the random selection you are told nothing, if they all select the same info then you only get part of what you need. The Dancer COR Panthu has confirmed this and its hitting dancers a lot harder based on the problems I seethem posting.

I understand, first time through on TC we didn't have audiences so I know what it's like flying blind!

It is very annoying when you only get the 'rhubarb' lines, I haven't seen the dancer comments but I'd suggest /bug or the feedback threadsif anyone gets not enough info, especially on a second/third attempt.

Just tried the quest, and is anyone having trouble getting the audition started? I took the audition for musician ( I am a master musician), and ran to the the stage, but as I ran on stage I got the message " FAILURE: Left stage during audition" Then while still standing on the stage, 10 seconds later got the message "Failure: didn't reach stage in time for audition"

I am thus prevented from doing anything else for 24 hrs. Am I alone here? Thanks

Last 3 times on Performance 1, they have told me the preferred flourish, but not once have I been informedof a preferred song. I've brought people to poll the audience every time too... so... yeah its very frustrating to fail the 1st performance 3 times in a row because they didn't tell you what you need to pass. Its almost as if i'm not meant to get the quests finished.

Great guide, noticed you used most of my FAQ. Nice to see a more completed Guide.

5 stars for you.
