Thread: DEVS! Put something in this game that requires entertainers to tip us fighters!
Heh, I'm glad this guy posted this. With all the people complaining about denying services it's good to have some one show them the otherside of the board.
Remember guys that we enterainers are highly useful to the comunity, but if we start trying to extort tips off of people we may find ourselves without customers rather quickly.
any smart entertainer would turn auto afk flag off .. sence thats a option in ctrl O
"any smart entertainer would turn auto afk flag off .. sence thats a option in[Should not have been inserted]"
And now those that didn't know how to turn off AFK do...
Simple...don't ever tip an entertainer that is AFK. However, you may find an AFK entertainer that is not actually AFK. If you see them talking to someone, then they aren't really AFK.
I don't play my character AFK....ever. To me, it feels dishonest. I don't like making money and earning xp when I'm not playing. I feel the same way about gathering resources. My solution is simply not to do it, and not to tip people that play AFK. I don't rant about it in game though.
Also, keep this in mind. Entertainers only get entertainer healing xp from you watching them, and it is only while you have injuries. The more entertainer healing xp we get, the faster we can heal your wounds and BF. Otherwise, that xp doesn't help us learn new dances or songs or effects. You want to get in the field faster, come watch us when you are injured, tip us so we can buy better healing skills, and we'll get you out there faster.
Asking us to tip you back is only counterproductive.
B1tch and moan B1tch and moan
Some people are all so worried about what other people are doing and are afraid that maybe that somebody else is getting something they are not. I'm an entertainer and I use macros. I use macros a lot. I watch people come into the cantina and complain that there are not enough performers. I watch people complain that performers are asking for money. I watch people complain that there is nobody to train them in advanced bunny killing 6 (AND RITE NOW DARN IT).
Do any of you non entertainers know the sheer amount of time it takes to level as an entertainer? I can spend an hour or twoin the wild killing swoopers and level on my rifle, but I have to grind for 16 to 20hours on my instrument to level. So I have no problem with fireing off a thirty minute macro and cooking dinner. I don't expect anything from anybody when I'm on a macro. Hell, I never expected to make money as an entertainer. It's all about those hours when I can really get my groove on and socialize with the masses.
So let the entertainers police themselves. If we decide a persons macro use isout of hand, we wont let the abusers into our bands. It's pointless for a fighter to complain about the way an entertainer runs his show. If you don't like it, don't watch it.
Yes. As an entertainer, I know it well. That's precisely WHY it's so frustrating to see a cantina full of AFKers. I'm not an entertainer for the money. I want to get my groove on and socialize. How the hell can I do that when somebody on the kloo horn is playing the same chord progression over and over and over and over and over again? The sound is horrifying, the visual clutter aggravating, the presence of an AFK character just adds to lag...etc. etc. etc. If you want to grind out some music exp, go AFK outside in the street. Don't screw things up for the rest of us because you don't feel like logging out to make dinner.

I had a guy come into the cantina when I was the only one there entertaining. Our conversation was interesting..
"No tip?" he says.
"Oh no problem," I say, thinking he means he cant' tip me for some reason.
"No I mean you should tip me. You make xp when I listen to you right?"
At that point I stopped playing my instrument and sat down and shouted.
"Hey everyone, I'm making xp off of this guy! I'm going to stop now!"
because hey, it was just grief play for me to be making xp off of him without his permission and without paying him right?
He left.
He may have had massive battle fatigue, but at least a leach like me wasn't healing it for him and not paying him for the privelege..

Hi DEVS, i think we have a major problem going on in the cantinas...
I mean... i spend my time grinding out xp in the woods. I die sometimes, and live sometimes... eventually, i always have to go back to the cantina.
All these entertainers do(sometimes) is walk into the cantina, set up their macro, and then they get up from their computer chair to get ice cream and watch tv.
Something should be added to the game that requires entertainers to tip fighters, since they are making xp off us.
Thanks in advance!
How 'bout this for an idea....
Institute a 5-minute-rule for dueling. If you don't decline a duel in 5 minutes, it auto-accepts. That should help you get rid of those pesky AFK entertainers. (BTW, I'm an entertainer and I despise AFK entertainers.)

I agree on this 100%.
Worse is when the group leader AFKs without warning people and transferring leadership. Now no one new can enter the group.
One night we got so annoyed with the half the group that just went AFK (including the leader) that the other half of us who were active just /disbanded from that group and formed another one.

Actually, all the flourishes and the base pattern have to have the same progression in them otherwise they wouldn't fit together... ![]()
Hm. Do fighters help entertainers on a daily, constant basis to the point where they are a necessity to us?
No.
Do we help fighters on a constant, daily basis to the point we are a necessity to them?
Yes.
If you don't like it, find an entertainer trainer, pay for the skill, and entertain your OWN battle fatigue away. Then you can go and /tip yourself because you just made some xp. I don't need a fighter in any way, shape, or form. I'm trained in expert pistol and advanced rifle, and am slowly working my way higher.
As entertainers, we work our --- off to gain XP. We don't gain hundreds or thousands of xp in a small amount of time like some classes. I was in a cantina for an entire DAY dancing nonstop to hit Dancing IV.
As for AFK-Macroers, I hate them. Them and underwear dancers. I've never used a macro, don't plan on it. If I'm ever AFK, I'm either not dancing, or doing the basic stance of the dance with no flourishes. I don't expect to be tipped if someone comes in while I'm AFK and if they leave while I am.
Someone said earlier that dancers would have no customers if they started asking for tips more assertively or charging for dances. Well, if that's so, then other classes will have no mind and high battle fatigue. Have fun getting healed! ^.^ Especially with the small amount allotted for class skills.
Entertainers--the many, the proud, the underappreciated.
