Thread: Entertainer Report II Input thread
Basically I think a continuation of the top issues from 7-25 still need to be addressed.
While they have changed / added some flourishes to several dances they haven't completed that work, several dances still are not targeted to recieve additional flourishes. And from the reports recieved from test center the flourishes they have added are not in tune with the current flourishes and just don't look as nice. As entertainers image is everything having ugly flourishes is as bad as having none.
The musicians are absolutly right in wishing ceremonial and mandoviolin moved out of the master entertainer and into the musician line. Neither dancers nor image designers loose any unique features by choosing to forgo master entertainer however musicians loose two. As a dancer I absolutly love dancing lyrical to ceremonial (they fit so perfectly) however it is extremely rare to have even one master entertainer in a group let alone several. Give master entertainers some specialty technical effects. New lightshows that look cool but don't do anything unique.
While afk macroing hurts the game and most likely hurts the entertainment profession the most (in the form of image) its not an entertainer issue its a game design issue that the developers are already well aware of and are working on. I would hate for us as entertainers to draw attention to the issue since the use of macro's and aliases can be key to a smoothly flowing performance and calling for a nerf would most likely hurt us more than help. In fact asking for anytype of nerf is a bad thing we should only look for improvements.
I would like to see some discussion as to what the designers really feel is the role of the entertainer in the advanced game. Entertainers have no hybrid professions and entertainers as a group are very divided as to goals for ourselves. Some wish to stay in the cantinas, some will move on to professional performing and some will try to blend entertainment in with other skills. Knowing what the designers see is the role of the entertainer in the upper game would be key to knowing what we need tolook for in order to change or mold those roles. Many that have mastered Dance and Music have moved on away from entertainment and some have completely dropped their skills do to the feeling of having no continuality outside the cantinas.
I came here from the VN Boards, where you posted a similar thread. And then got banned, so the conversation stopped. For readers here who do not know what I am talking about, head over there and check out the thread by Archangel.
You apparently have an agenda, and are not interested in "reporting" on what really bothers entertainers. Your pet peave is afk macroing, and that is what you are going to talk to SOE about. This is so wrong. It's wrong because it is not your "job" as the entertainer reporter to push your own agenda. It's wrong because probably as much as 90% of people who posted in that other thread, disagreed with you, and yet you are still going to tell SOE that this is what the entertainer community wants. It's wrong because afk macroing only benefits newbies who are trying to skillup, and becomes a non-issue once someone becomes Master. And the worst thing about it is that you are trying to destroy the in-game macro functionality, which is crucial for Musicians who want to do anything remotely creative.
For the record, I am a Master Musician, and have no use for afk macroing. I never afk macroed on the way to Master (though admittedly I did go briefly afk to make kitchen and bathroom runs lol) I am no great supporter of the people who are afk for long periods of time. However I do NOT see this as an issue that is important enough to bother the devs with, when there are so many other, much more pressing problems. And if the alias file functionality is broken, I am going to be seriously pissed. I am writing "songs" that are complicated enough that they need to be in the alias file, for ease of editing and choreographing...and if this functionality is broken because of your "I hate afk people" agenda, it hurts a lot more honest, at the keyboard people than the afk crowd. You on the other hand admitted to going afk for hours in the cantina on your path to Master, in that VN Board thread....and I suspect your only gripe with others doing this is that they are able to catch up to you a little faster with it.
Here are some REAL issues that bother entertainers...
1. Tips. Everyone knows about this one hehe. So many are so incredibly cheap, that it is impossible for most of us to make a living as entertainers. Like many others, I have gone out and taken up weapon skills, to make money. I like going out and shooting stuff, but many people would rather stay in town and just perform for a living. And all of us don't want to create female Twi'Leks, and act all slutty just to make some credits.
2. Instruments. There is a lack of variety with the sounds of the instruments. We need more! A bunch of identical sounding horns, a violin, 2 identical sounding drums, and a piano...thats what we have. How about a Tuba, or a Bagpipes, or a Harp? Or some made up instuments, the soundcards can do all kinds of neat effects. If you ever played Zork Nemesis, you know what I mean hehe.
3. Bandflourish Lights. We can /bandflourish the regular flourishes, but there is no way to synch up the light effects.
4. Dance Flourishes. They look good for the ladies, but men look way too effeminate doing them. In the real world, male ballet folks don't generally dance like that hehe. Maybe the guys can get their own, more masculine looking dance moves?
5. Image Design. There is no interface for the designer to use, when they are working on a client. They are forced to stand real close to the person, and wing it. If they had a ui that popped up similar to the character creation screens, it would help them out a lot.
6. Bugs. There are a variety of band related bugs that need squashing. /stopband while someone is sitting, someone playing song A being invited into a band that is playing song B, and now the band is playing 2 songs at once, and it sounds terrible, etc.
Didn't mean to write a book here, hehe...just wanted actual problems addressed, and not some random person's agenda.
I do not want Macros touched in anyway shape or form by the devs and think that it should not be an issue.
I want the devs to address the ME issue concerning song, instrument, and dances.
I want the devs to address what the hell an entertainer is good for other than sitting in a cantina healing people in under 60 seconds?? Is there any high end content slated for us or are we cheerleaders to the combat types forever more.
I want devs to address the dancer falls issue. I'd like to see it removed entirely, as it does nothing for the profession other than make it look stupid, especially at the master level. Either that or make every musician flub the song every 2 minutes. That should cure most of the problem as there will be no dancers and musicians.
I want devs to provide more depth to all of the entertainer professions. More songs, more instruments, more dances, MORE FLOURISHES, and a whole lot more UNIQUENESS.
I want the devs to fix the **edit** bugs.
Of course, these ARE my PERSONAL AGENDAs and may or may not have anything to do with everyone elses feelings.
Oh and one more time, leave the **edit** macros alone before you get them stripped from the game. If you think you are gonna solve the problem, you are wrong. SOE couldn't solve all the problems like that after 5 years of EQ, it won't happen here even if they do remove the macro system. People always find a way to do what they want whether you like it or not.

Falling dancer issues: Resolve this in its own criteria, do NOT even suggest making musicians flub notes, or no one will listen to us. Musicians have to build, buy, borrow or pay for instruments to ply their trade, dancers just move.
Turning flourish animations off: I hate throwing my mandovil up into the air when performing ballad. Either that, or come up with a set of 'softer' animations that are neutral in flavor.
The group split seems to work now, so that's half the battle solved if someone tips the group leader and they use the split command.
Mando/Ceremonial: Wookiee danced to get the mando/ceremonial song. Let the wookiee win.
Master Entertainer Image Design award: Okay, I did lekku and eye color and there's no reward for reaching Master Entertainer in the Image Design department? Okay, I get the neat 'Hairstylist' title to use while hunting.
Bugs that still are broken:
/changebandmusic still makes people sound like the same instrument or bugs them with phantom notes even while sitting.
/bandflourish xx nalargon/omni/etc was broken last time we checked.
Wookiees sitting in Cantina chairs and someone /startband will cause them to stay shrunk at Ewok size.
Random thing to throw in:
Firejet should cause pet to go back into store mode if its standing on musician or dancer.

My suggestions:
- Move the song Ceremonial to Novice Musician
- Leave the Mandovial to Master Entertainers. They deserve a unique talent for focusing on entertainment this much
- Add instrument decay
- Allow pitch and tempo changes (/pitch, /tempo?)
- Run a poll, ingame, targeting all players who have at least Novice Entertainer, and ask them on a 5-step scale of Totally Like to Totally Hate how they feel about AFK macroing. Forums are skewed.

I'm not sure if you're being facetious on this, but I'll chime in.
My dance routine relies on having a pet out. So if pets were punished in the cantinas like some people want, then that will seriously gimp my dancing. I do not want to see this considered.
Although, I'm fine with size limits. I do not dance with my ronto. He's not even fully grown, and his head already slams through the ceiling when I make him dance.
I see why you want to remove pets from the cantina, but I worked my way up the Dancer tree and the Creature Tree to be a unique dancer. It would be a CH nerf that I could agree to hate.
