Thread: MAKE ENTERTAINERS MORE ENTERTAINING
Hi - on the different songs issue - I think it wouldn't be a problem if we could just get the same xp for /bandflourish as for regular /flourish. Then we we could all sinc up and use macros to make different sounding songs. But right now you get no mus xp unless you are the one invoking the /bandflourish.
It does help a ton to group, use different instruments, and have active players who flourish.
I got some new macros from the forums today - I'm going to share them with my group and work on our manual timing to see if regular /flourish will work.
I do think that the developers would help all our ears by adding just one song that sounds good on the slither for all of the newbies - this would allow us to buff them and provide our audience with a change in sound. While the more exp musicians don't get hardly any xp playing starwars1 I don't mind playing it - helps the newbies buff and then we get to play other songs. Its the lack of variety that's hurting my ears
It also gets old for the audience - some of my regulars have told me they are turning the sound down on their systems - though they are sweethearts and tip wonderfully - I'd like it if we could ease all of our ears ![]()
Former EQ player here. I played for a year and a half.
Here's what you need to know.
XP.
When you start playing do two flourishes back to back. When you see the musician XP message telling you how much XP you just got...do two more. This will get you max XP every tick (10 seconds). You get an extra XP point depending on how many folks are in your group and nearby. So I recommend the more populated cantinas for XP points. You also get extra XP if people /cheer for you. So work the crowd.
Your max XP ability depends on two things. Your song. Your instrument. Each instrument gives you better XP to a point, and each song gives you better XP. Yet you'll find you can make just as much XP by playing a lower song with your best instrument, so don't be afraid of grouping with lower entertainers.
Gague how much XP you get by yourself with your two flourishes to get your max solo, then head for a group and watch that number double.
You might try making instruments too.
If you want a nice solo macro this works for me.
/startmusic starwars3; /flo 1; /flo 2; /pause 10; /flo 3;/ flo 4; /pause 10 ... and so on. Watch how long it takes fo ryou rstamina to deplete and add ... /stopmusic; /sit; /pause (200 or so?); /stand; /pause 20 (I add this because I get a cannot start whil erunning message sometimes); /startmusic starwars3 ... etc. It'll take some practice, but you can eventually craft a macro to get you through a few hours.
Fun
If you just want the skill to reduce battle fatigue and mind wounds. You can stop around Music 3. That should be enough for you. If you want to have fun...
Starwars2 is the first song you get that will make you very, very happy. I believe you need to flourish 4/4/5/2/2 to get the full effect. Starwars3 is also pretty awesome.
You get a guitar-like instrument when you master entertainer (only stringed instrument so far). Some flourishes include playing behind the back and with your teeth.
Once you hit novice musician...there is a line of skills which cause light shows, etc.
When you get in a band, try your different sounding instruments. They don't play the same thing as the others. They all mix together nicely. Try to feed off of the other musicians and make a decent song. Macros are the enemy of fun, so learn what the flourishes sound like.

I enjoy entertainer for several reasons. Mainly, I'm a RL musician and a Star Wars freak. The idea of traveling from city to city to play in different cantinas appeals to me. There's nothing like playin music to the earlier hours, drinking, passing out (go prone then log) and logging in the next morning to find yourself sprawled on the floor of the cantina.
