If you want to open a store, have a ball. I have seen some before, never tried on my own though.

However I do sell a long on the bazaar. And while most people make their own entertainer instruments, or get one from someone else in the group, the same is not true for musician instruments. By most people's methods, they would not be able to make anything until after they can play nearly everything. So they are more reliant on buying other instruments, as often the same is true of everyone else in the group. I sell musician level instruments daily. Several a day usually. But aside from the fanfar (Not kloo oddly) I don't sell many entertainer instruments.

if you want to do a store, I don't suggest you do. Most of the Musicians I played with back when I was leveling up would either-

A. Ask someone to make them one, while in the cantina.

or

B. Go check the local bazaar.

After noticing that, once I hit Master Musician, I began to make instruments. I would sell them for cheaper than competition (Take THAT Starwhisper!) on the bazaar, right outside of Theed cantina. That's what I suggest you do, or at least do something similar.

Well maybe I'm a freak, but when I was trying to level up to get to musician, I wished there was a place I knew I could get all the instruments I would need. Maybe it's just my server (shadowfire), but I had a hell of a time finding some things - especially the higher up I got. I would waste tons of time trying to track down someone who either a) had one for sale or b) could make one for me.

Like I said, I'm trying to get rich here, so that's not much of a concern. I figure if I keep a well stocked vendor it's going to attract some people....no?

See, that's how other Musicians will think! They'll want some place to get those instruments! And you putting them on the bazaar makes it all the more easier for them, since they can just walk right outside, buy it, then go back into the cantina! That way you get more customers!

Let us know how it goes!

Getting word out can be tough at times. Being in a popular player city is good. The one I know of on my server is in a player city between the shuttleport and cantina with a simple sign advertising that it is a music shop. I know the musician who runs it (They used to be one of my cantina regulars long time ago) and they've had a shop somewhere or another for the better part of a year now.

I sell a few instruments myself. I like to keep Theed stocked with one of everything at least, 2 or 3 of the higher instruments. However, I add in an "AFK tax" to the higher end stuff, instruments in musician starting at 3000 and going up to 6000. If I see a name I recognize as being an active entertainer, I refund the AFK tax to them. People I'm grouped with who ask I make the instrument for free.

I'm also a freak that went up technique first this time, so I made almost all my own instruments.

I have a Ent vendor. It has it's ups and downs. I also put instruments for sale on the bazaar in Bestine as everyone currently starts on tat so it's a good place to put an ad for the store in the item description.

Well, Theed still seems to be the busiest cantina in my galaxy so I'm thinking about setting up a shop right outside of town. I've also emailed the mayors of the two biggest entertainment based player cities in the Galaxy to see if there was any kind of interest. I just haven't decided yet. Meanwhile I'll keep grinding up that Tech tree so I can make everything I need to sell

I plan on advertising the **edit** out of it. Just like with real life, making your company name something that everyone knows is key. I know that when I played before I found one tailor, one weaponsmith, andone armorsmith that I knew would always have what I needed. I would go out of my way to head to those shops because there was no guess work. I knew they would have what I needed. That's what I want to be for the musician's on my server - The one stop shop for musical instruments.

Who knows though. I'll keep you posted as to how it goes. The nice thing is that if it doesn't work out (unlike real life) it's not the end of the world

Lol I like the idea of the 'AFK Tax'

I make Instruments free for anyone who needs them, whenever I am in a cantina. Ifresource quality and instrument skill mattered, I would give serious consideration to making them for profit, in a nice shop, but its mostly pointless as it stands.

I like using Mandoviols as decoration in homes and cantinas. I had an instrument vendor for a while, but the player city I had it in was on Dantooine, so it didn't get a whole lot of traffic. I, too, had some success placing items for sale on the Bazzar. What I tend to do is go check it and then make 3 or 4 of whatever item(s) it's low on, weighted towards the Entertainer horns.

I actually do have a suit of clothing that has a total of +25 in Instrument Assembly in it. A very wonderful friend got me the tapes to put it together. I had my husband's Master Artisan make denim-looking pants and a jacket, and leather-looking boots and gloves, naming them Instrument Crafter's boots, etc. If I ever had some insanely high musical mind enhancement and battle fatigue healing(music) SEAs to put in them, I'd be so tickled I wouldn't know what to do with myself! But the chances of getting +7 or 8 tapes to spread out between those is...well...you know. Anyway! What I was going to say is that if quality ever matters, you only actually need +20 in Instrument Assembly to get the +2 experimentation points.

I think that's what I'll do. I'll go look for some good quality aluminum, steel and soft wood and make some instruments.

If you have a friend who's a Master Artisan, you could also put fireworks andcreature habitats on there, call it a 'party supplies' store. I like the butterflies and glowzees habitats! And if you know a tailor who does the Music/Dance Wound Healing modded clothing...and a chef who can make bio-engineered Accarragm...one-stop shop for performers!

Ugh, now I want to take over a friend's account who's quitting and make a BE/Tailor and do all this on Starsider. Quit giving me ideas!
