Thread: What did you think about the question/answer excercise?

Before this turns into anothe thread debating the answers themselves...
I might point out that that there are quite a few positive things to come out of the answers.
The first - have you looked at Haden's post count? He doesn't post very often. Do a search for all his posts. Count how many of them are in a profession forum. Count how many of them are this year. I'll let you draw your own conclusions from that. For the lazy, I'll tell you the answers to those counts are 17, 2 and 1 respectively.
The second thing that I get out of the thread is again from Haden. The class is meant to be a class for socializers. Yet, it has been turned into something very anti-social by the players. We all know what he said the class is supposed to be isn't reality. That is to say - it's not working as intended. That doesn't entirely conflict with what TH said, as he never touched that aspect.
Ok, but I wasn't even counting Haden's post as "part of the process"... If you want to talk about what was actually said instead of the process, yeah, he said a ton. He hasn't been very vaguewhen talking about the "girls like chatting and pretty things, not real games", I wasn't kidding when I mentioned that Salon article. I happen to be pretty ok with this since I really am a female who "likes to chat and have pretty things"... I however know that not all females are like that and that many males enjoy these same things (so don't freak out on me), but I'm pretty sure he's totally out of touch with what's going on in this class now.
I don't care how you feel about afk, if you have spent anytime at all in game as an Ent for the past few months, you know that it is effecting socialization, making the lack of game content for the class painfully obvious, making it just stupid to say that we are getting tipped for BF and wound healing in afk filled cantinas (we aren't, I feel like all of my tips come from being a good chatter and a charity case now), and that no one in game now "values us as healers". So no, sorry, I don't feel better about his post, he's talking about some other game as far as I can tell. *shrug*
I don't care about AFK ents, I never did it just because I didn't want to make other ents mad... but on my own, I could care less if someone else is leveling with out effort... it's their sub, why should I care... but this is a special case, in this "tip based" economy, it is devastating to the original plan. I had a very strong feeling they would say that AFK was fine; I had no clue they would completely deny _all_ the ways it effects the gameplay of the classes and tell us it was still fine though. I don't see how anyone can be pleased with the current setup, I don't think anyone is. Too bad Haden et al seem to not give a darn.
I think this is very telling about timing of our future requests. We have been quite miffed about the side-effects of the current grinding process on the cantina. So right now the devs are assuming that many of our problems stem entirely from the jedi system, and will resolve upon removal of grinding.
Well, a week, two weeks after the grind, we reevaluate. We go cantina hopping and test the waters. We play and really really try to make the community work, as it was intended, back in the idyllic days of beta (har har).
Then if (and probably) things are still wrong, we say... "ok, there are no more hologrinders, and x, y and z are still a problem. Therefore the problem is intrinsic to the profession, and not a side-effect of the jedi system."
Thiswill be evidence of the point we've been trying to make all along, that something within the profession itself is inherently flawed. At that time, with all the background noise of jedi-grinding gone, we'll possibly have more success in focusing the devs' attention on what we believe to be the profession's problems.

Redundant
Yeah, after reading the whole TH thread I'm very frustrated. (not at TH's answers, at the rest of the debate on that thread).
I'm now just tempted to call for an all-out re-roll on some other server that I know has a plethora of active entertainers and invite everyone who reads these boards to join me on that server. I know Kettemore, Ahazi, and Chilastra
have a non-trivial number of active parties interested in live socializing. I know many of us here on the boards have great and differing ideas as to what a band should be like and what types of things are possible. Every time I read Tiaga's posts on aliases and macros I wish I was on Kettemore with my character. Every time I read about the famous Fat Wookiee Band I wish I was on Bria with my MM.
I know it would never happen and it wouldn't live up to my dreams, but I'm inspired on a weekly basis by the posts on these boards to go bring a little bit more to my gaming experience and the people I play with and that makes me think that it would be possible. I all of us active entertainers left for one server, how many patrons would follow? none?
I know, I'm such a communist, I'll quit venting now that I feel better.
