Wow this thread grew since the last I checked it. And I do agree that it is very server dependant. But it is frustrating when I'm out solo, get chewed up by a Mauler and his buddies and have to travel half way across a planet to get healed, just to go out again and run into the same Mauler. DOH. Anyways, I half agree with and half disagree with the whole AFK macro thing. I do it to mine resouces when I'm not at home. I'm not lvling, I'm not taking other people's tips, in fact most of the resouces to go my friends who are desprately trying to get up the weaponsmith and/or armorsmith trees.

But if a group of established players have set up a routine gig in some of the small towns, all I have to say is thank you. It helps so many of us who don't frequent Theed/Bestine/Cornet often other than to look for a new weapon or such.

Entertainers moved out of the small towns because players don't tip them enough to make it worthwhile to stay. Heck, most players don't even bother to say 'thanks for the mind heal'. Now you folks are complaining that the cantinas are empty and suggesting that AFKers go to small towns so that you can get the heals without having to pay them???

AFKers are not going to leave Theed or Coronet because they get more XP in a big group. You're not going to tip them anyway, so why should they dance somewhere for less XP?

I find it ironic that the players who drove entertainers out of the small, off-the beaten-track casinos are now begging AFK lowlifes to leave Coronet and Theed. If you folks had been a little more respectful towards entertainers, and if you had not been cheapskates by refusing to rewardthe service that the entertainers provided, you wouldn't need to be paying shuttle (or even spaceship)fares to find an entertainer.

If you wanted them to stick around, you should have opened your wallets weeks ago. Crying about it now is like bolting the stable door when the horse is already longgone.

I play a master dancer/novice doctor/apprentice gunfighter on Flurry, and I got most of my experience in a smaller town, Kaadara. I now live there so generally when dancing, and not hunting, I am there in the cantina. Generally, you can find a small group of entertainers in the cantina ,though not always. It seems, with tips being what they are (aren't), and what not, after reaching a certain stage, masters for some, most entertainers don't spend a lot of time in the cantina. However, so do, and that's always good.: Anyhow, it is true that the Keren cantina is often very deserted, and always was the fewtimes I went there and stopped to dance. Theed and Coronet, yeah, always crowded ( and with many afkers, which I can't say I approve of that method as I didn't afk my way to dancer in the 2 weeks it took me playing the game, and this was while working abit on scout ,etc, which I have now given up.) Sure, I played a lot besides when I wasn't working, but it was worth it ,and I feel Ifully earned my dancer mastership.

Anyway, I rather enjoy dancing in Kaadara as the folks are nice, both entertainers and audience alike for the most part. Theed isn't bad either or Coronet as I've met some very nice people there as well that are regularly in the cantina entertaining ,and not afk.

We put on a nice little show of master dancers in Theed the other night . Coordinated exotic with our grand healing robes. <g>Talk about dance of the witches as some called it.

Anyhow, I have personally thought about travelling to smaller towns to dance now or perhaps Lok or something.

It seems entertainers might be needed in remote places, and heck, I can heal too.

I'll tell you where all the AFK macro entertainers can go: TO HELL!

Seriously, though. There was a time when people who were cheating and exploiting would be ashamed of their actions and do it in secret. GO DO IT IN SECRET, you greedy, selfish, non-contributing buggers.

I flame thee.

Do not go to small towns, do not go to hotels. The primary reason to AFK dance/play is xp. Instead go to a remote part outside of towns or in a deserted part of town and AFK there.

By AKFing anywhere an active entertainer can be, interfers with their activities. I have on occasion, while on Dathomir, headed about 500 meters outside the outpost for some AKF dancing. It always seems to be a safe location and if another entertainer shows up, they have the cantina to themselve.

Last night was horrible. I was on my lil bothian entertainer in Coronet, playing away. Later in the evening, there were two other entertainers who were actually "there", and FIVE who were afk macroing. The bad part was (besides the fact that the afk'ers were'nt away in some far off town) is that they were right in the center area as you walk in the cantina. They weren't off to the side, or in one of the alcoves; they had to be right in front, a huge group of them. And a few of the people who had been on, instead of using the 30 second logout, or moving off to the side for the quick disconnect, simply disconnected from right in the center area, so for a half hour there were 3-4 LD'ers.

Please, we entertainers don't like it when folks bring their graul's and rancors into the cantina and make it hard for us to see and be seen, let's not be part of the problem ourselves. If your going to afk macro, either like someone said, do it in a more out of the way town, or in the main ones, stay off to the side or in an alcove area.

Sorry all, just had to get that out, I was very miffed last night. It's hard enough getting tips when your a small "dog faced" bothian. hehe

Peace all, and keep dancing the night away!
