Once thing I forgot to mention - Its interesting that those in need of healing often complain that there are no entertainers around to do it, without getting into the whole 'well if you treated them better...' argument, this is no different that an entertainer not having a combat character around when they get agroed by a NPC (walking to town, through town, to harvester etc). Everyone has the ability to obtain a wide spread of skills and the game doesnt force you to go out and get beaten up and need healing.

Healers (or either type) or not a player right, they are a player type - treat them as such!

I just want some people to hear my point of veiw on AFK entertaining

I made this char to supply people in cities with no entertainers with an entertainer i AFK macro all the time when im asleep for their benifit not mine i dont ask for tip but i still receive them which then goes into learning new skills and searching for more places that need me....................But then i get a email saying alot of extremly mean stuff.........doesnt matter tho he most likly had a bad day................I thought i was helping the city by making this char and placing in this entertainerless city??

if i cant AFK entertainer my char will most likly me deleted and i think we will loose 70% of the entertainers out there right now because think about it for every 10 entertainers 3 are actualy on so making AFK entertaining impossible will then make BF and Mind wounds pile up on everyone and theyll all be shouting let entertainers AFK again

or they will scrap the BF and Mind wound healing all together

just my opinion

'tis a lie. Plain and simple.

If you were in it for the helping of others, your macro would just be: /startmusic sw1;/pause 600; /stopmusic; /sit; /pause 600; and repeat.

Face it, you're flourishing to level and this happy excuse of helping others is just an attempt to make yourself or others accept that you're breaking the rules. Don't pretend this is your gift to your cantina. Don't pretend that you care one lick about other people. If you did, you'd care about the people trying to be entertainers, musicians and dancers, not just the poor, poor combat people who have no one to heal their mind.

Whatever, buddy. If the combat types want mind healing and no one's there, they'll pick up entertainer themselves (it seems like most of them have already) or they'd learn to use the Ctrl+V map to find a cantina with a registered entertainer.

The AFK fix can't come soon enough for me.

To each thier own I guess, I just wish AFK ents would go hide in a corner and stay out of the main rooms.

Though I can see why someone would do the macro thing, when your low lvl. The dance moves are not all that great but then again.... there is more to being an entertainer then having moves that heal ppl fast

Players get BF as well as thier toons

Hunting groups don't leave for advanced planets without a medic or without fighters. If there wasn't an AFK dancing/playing bot parked there already, they probably wouldn't leave without an entertainer either. There are enough of us (so far) so it's not like we're hard to find to take along.

If I thought there wouldn't be an AFK bot there when I arrived, I would travel to advanced planets and the far corners of the galaxy and dance. If a "live" entertainer was there when I arrived, I'd have some good company. Since there's a good chance one of you IS parked there (otherwise, I'd be getting tells asking me to come), I only go when I'm with a group. Otherwise, I've probably wasted the credits to get there and my time.

After reading this thread, I only have one thing to say. AFK entertainment has got to go.

Afk entertainment healing has to be stopped. No other issue is as important to the entertainer profession.

And when it is stopped, you will again see Masters begin to log on and repopulate the cantinas again,,but not until

Over and over again has this point been made,,and still no resolution,,,its really simple,,stop afk healing,,

Well, I think the original poster has his/her answer, based on all the responses here:

Yes, you should be stopped.

By AFK Entertaining, you obviate the need for the fighters on high-end worlds to find and contract dancers and musicians to come there to play for them. How many times has my dancer NOT been invited to Endor by people sitting in Keren cantina planning a trip there, because the fighters in that group knew they did not need her, since an AFK bot was there already?

We'll never know how many times an event that might have happened, didn't, but I suspect it is a LOT, and I suspect it happens to the "live" dancers many times a day, on every galaxy.

So yes, you AFK Macro-tainers should be stopped. You're ruining things for those of us actually AT keyboard by making the supply higher than the demand, and making others think of us as a "dime a dozen" class.

If AFK entertainment healing is halted, then the player-based economy will be balanced again. There will seem to be less entertainers if the AFKing is stopped, but in actuality, more people will come to the entertainer profession (indeed, some will be coming back to the profession) to fill the need. And as people realize that need, they will be more inclined to tip the entertainers to entice them to excel in those fields.

I play a second character now, and for RP purposes, he does not engage in such "frivolities" even though he has over 100 skill points free. In fact, we had no entertainer in Theed one day (hard to believe, I know). Someone suggested that I pick up the skill, but I refused for RP purposes. I left with Mind wounds and Battle Fatigue with the intent of returning later. So, you can bet that I tip every time I go into that cantina, even if I'm just resting up 20 BF.

The tipping situation, I aver, does work. The problem is that AFK healing disrupts the player-based economy. Since a lot of people take this healing for granted, they don't see the need to encourage entertainers to exist. The ones who tip are the die-hard types who enjoy a good role-playing, are entertainers themselves on another server, and/or recognize how vital entertainers are and wish to keep them around.

Love Star Wars, but the few role-players I could find on the servers were outnumbered by powergamers who wanted only l337 l00t and mad skillz. I can't justify paying $15 a month to play a game by myself.
Still cares enough to interject an opinion, though.

Kuil --

There are some (not tons, but some) players who are just good gamers and appreciate other good gamers doing something diffrent. They often are offended at the idea that people would macro their way to the top, and when they see a live dancer they tip and tip WELL. They understand that we should be encouraged, and that the Macro-tainers have not earned anything, and they appreciate the concept of earning something. Again, there aren't all that many of them out there, but you only need one or two of them to make your day, or sometimes even your whole week...

I often would like to see how many people who gripe about AFK entertainers actually AFK'd themsevles to the top. But then again we all have to have something to cry about now don't we.

Well that would just be hypocritical now, wouldn't it?

And that's another reason why AFK macroing sucks. We'll all be accused of it when we're masters.
