I'm having a similar issue withg flight computers. Yes I have programed and isntalled the chips inside the computer in the datapad. Yes I have a droid interface installed. Yes I am certified to use them. I have tried v1-v3 flight computers, same effect (can't try others quite yet). I have tried several diferent looted and crafted droid interfaces. When at the starport, I can load the flight computer, but it turns red as mentioned for the droid above, even though it says (LOADED) in the window. In my case, I happen to fly a TIE, and no, hyperspace has nothing to do with it (even the X, Y and Z can hyperspace with no droid installed). There is plenty of power, and it is also not a mass issue, since the flight computers have no mass. When in space, the ship section of the actions menu only list the basic non-computer commands, not the programed commands such as overload and normalize. When I return to the starport, it is often unloaded once again, but not every time (might be if I died or not, I have not noticed a patter however).
Has anyone actually been succesful using these things? I'm wondering if there could bea bug of some sort, a couple other people that have purchased modules have had similar problems, but they have also been setting them up the same way, so I also admit it could be something simple I'm missing. If this is so, what is my skipped step? (I've done the flight computer 12 step listing found on other threads).
Please help.

Hmmm... So when you hit CTRL + A, there are no commands listed under "Astromech", even though you burned the programs, put them in the droid, and then put the droid into the ship?

let me check, thats in space right?
Yeah. It will list all of your currently loaded droid's commands.
And I don't think you need a droid for hyperspace. I've done missions with people who didn't have droids, and there were able to go to hyperspace just fine.

Correct Marsh, done everyting correctly, loaded them at starship terminal of course, as we must, but in space, the CTRL-A (Actoins) menu does not list them. When I (we aparently, same as Bush) return to the starport after being in space they often are no longer listed as loaded, and are once again white (not grey, so we are certified to use them). Ive made a ticket for CSR, and, no surprise, got a generic useless response. Some peopel have been able to use the things, so I don't understand what the gig is for me.
also..... /bump

Still no suggestions here or from CSR =( I've tried to trade my FC to a friend to see if he could use it, since mine is still loading in red, but it would not transfer. Tested a data transfer with a droid, which worked fine, but the window said "Trade canceled" when we tried to transfer the FC from my datapad and hit ok in the trade window... I'm not sure if the FC are non tradeable, or if this is a bug with my datapad or something, so one more question out there.... can these be traded normally?
And once again..... /bump

Iv'e had zero issues using flight computers or droids.
Flight computer: Initialize the FC from inventory. it vanishes and appears in your datapad.
radial unprogrammed chips to program them with a command. Radial the programmed chip to move it to the datapad. Move the command from the datapad to inside the flight computer.
Load a droid interface (any type) into the ship. Load your flight computer into the ship.
When it space, ctrl-a. The 'Astromech' tab holds your commands. Drag them to the top bar for use.
For droids, same deal.
One VERY IMPORTANT difference between droids and normal equipment. When you have a 'level 3' droid, it is NOT the same as a cert3 gun. A cert3 gun is tier 1 (usable at x1xx pilot). A Level 3 Droid/flight computer is a tier -2- droid (usable at xxx2). A level 4 droid is xxx3. A level 5 droid is xxx4. A level 6 droid is master.

Ok, I've don eeverything that seshemw has suggested, it's in the datapad, and loaded and all that. In space, the tab I have been looking in is the "ship" button, which contains a few commands such as overload engine, but I'm not sure if I have an "Astromech" one or not as imperial... perhaps it is paged out of sight, so it is possible I've just been suffering form a case of 18 month veteran newbieism... I'll confirm this and repost what I discover.
I am still curious however, does the FC turn red in your ship management window like mine does when it is in "(LOADED)" status? Others I have spoken with in game says it remains white, and my CSR ticket response tells me itcan only be white or grey, there are no other colors (believe me, it's red, I'm not colorblind!!). Still flying without it at 1211, sicne I don't quite have the mass for a DI until I manage to get the next blueprint, nor do I have problems without it as yet, but would be nice to have it as I begin tier 3.
Idiot or accurate.... time will tell =D

OK, so I'm a twinkie... I was looking in the wrong tab, the commands were indeed in the "astromech" box as they should have been, not the "space" (called it ship earlier, oops) tab that I was expecting them to be inside. Still on the learnign curve I guess, which is to be expected to some extent I suppose, and I'm sure many others are as well (no I did not beta test)
The one thing that gets my goat however.... CSR should have figured that out.... they shold know the commands a bit, and I did make reference to the "space" tab in the ticket i created,I doublechecked to make sure. Does not instill my confidence in their diagnostic abilities, but I suppose that is not such a huge secret from many people's viewpoint.
Case closed.

Before you launch, just to make sure (particularly after making any components modifications) unload then reload the droid/FC on your ship, this should make sure that it functions correctly
