To be frank I'm too depressed about this game to take up such an offer at this time. I'm afraid I would be a bit of a downer. So far I've been able to keep my hopelessness completelyoffline, but I fear I'm too far gone for that now. A year and a half of constant disappointment has taken all the fun out of the game for me, and my SWGaccount is hanging by a thread of hope thatmust bebased on emotion alone, since hopeseems completely irrational to me at this point.

Since June 2004, running one of the game's first completely nonviolent characters. Testing the limits of non-combat MMORPG play and trying to have fun into the bargain (although the developers make it difficult).

Combat is no longer compulsory.

Sorry to hear that. Best thing might be to take a break like others have suggesteduntil the non-combat profession pass that's supposed to come after the combat upgrade. If you change your mind, just leave an in game email.

This is such a difficult question to answer because I believe people stay or leave for very personal reasons. Weigh the pros and cons (as you have started to do already) and then determine if there are enough reasons for you to stay or not.

Ask yourself the basics:

Are you enjoying the game?

Do you always have something to do when you log on?

Are there reasons other than your profession that you log on? (friends, guild events, etc)

Where can you envision your character in a few months time (if you did remain)? What would he/she be doing and would you be getting enjoyment out of it?

There is nothing wrong with cancelling for a while and coming back, as you've done before. Sometimes people are searching desperately for that one golden reason for them to stay, and frequently look to others to answer it provide insight. The problem is that we each have our ownmotivations. I wouldn't begin to assume that you enjoy the game for the same reasons I do, but I have also been contemplating my future here and whether or not I should cut it short. Luckily I discovered that I still have many positive reasons to stay, one of them being that I still have a lot of fun. And one of my characters is a complete pacifist, too.

I wish you good luck in yoursearch and hope that you find the answer soon!

Very simple answer. If you are paying $15 a month for a game that isn't fun, why are you still here?

I would point out that choosing not to spend your money doesn't really qualify for the term "quit". Its a customer choice. That's why you should tell SOE that you're an unhappy customer and what changes would be needed to make you a happy customer. But paying to wait is not the best choice as a consumer.

At this point in timeI really enjoy the game and have been playing since Sep '03. Yes, I did have a couple of months I didn't play owing to the way I was being supported by SOE; but they changed. I have been back several months and I am over all very happy with the game; though I continue to be somewhat disappointed with how Dancer is languishing. I futher do notexpect to seeany improvement in the Dancer Profession from a SOE programming support stand point. I know we will always be on the list of things to fix, but other professions that have a larger player base will keep bouncing in front of us. I think this is a sad but true fact.

The list of things I would fix and interject for Dancers is long and not the subject of your inquiry.

So, once again to answer your base question, if the game isn't fun to you then you shouldn't spend $15 a month to play it, and no, it doesn't do you much good to pay $15 a month to wait.

Here's the problem I have with this game in a nutshell - people don't care about each other in this game. Look at my first post - it seems that three out ofsix people who felt strongly enough to award stars awarded me 1 star (or at best all six people awarded 3 stars each - but I know two people awarded me 1 star because I saw them appear before anyone else starred my post). This shows how antagonistic the community is towards criticism: 50% of people who read this forum (i.e. mostly entertainers)don't just not care about their fellow players - they activelyhate their fellow players. The SWGcommunity isis not open to criticism, it is not supportive of community members who are discouraged. This is a major reasonwhy SWG is dying. If it was ONLY that the developers didn't care about us non-combat folks, that would bea thing I could live with because I would get support from fellow players, but the community - even the entertainer community who I would think would be sympathetic-clearlydoesn't care. In the wider community (i.e. if I'd posted this in the old 'General SWG forum'I wouldn't be surprised if a thread like this got 90% 1-stars.

I've been an entertainer for a pretty long time, and I still have fun with it. I've made lots of new friends, joined a great guild, and have devised lots of ways to work with what we're given as entertainers. There's always another way you can play the game, and I'm finding new ones quite often. I think entertainer is a wonderful way to play the game without having to worry about buffs or fighting or people getting upset with each other, and I hope that we, as entertainers, can band together and try to make this game fun for everyone else. :-)

The game is worth keeping - the game is exactly what "you" make of it. I know alot of things are frustrating right now - and yes I too am of the belief that AFK playing does effect everyone. This is a multiplayer game - if I wanted to play the game alone I would go play Sims2.

However, the main reason I continue to play the game - despite some of the frustrations (and I seemed to pick 2 frustrating paths - Politician - no one listens to them about anything - and Dancer - my buffing power was broken for about 5 days... but back to reason I stay... friends - the people in the game that I hang out with both in game and in real life.
