Thread: State of the Entertainer Comments welcome
Dunno why I came to this board. I gave up all my Entertainer skills a while back to pursue some other career goals (not related to holocrons, if you're wondering). Guess I miss the applause. However, I was just going for a cursory read when I saw this thread. And I have to say:
What a positively wonderful post/report.
I hope the Entertainer community is very proud of their correspondent. They should be.

idk... i have 3m from just being a master ent/ master musician
guess its all in what/ how you do it...
now...
MY STATE OF THE ENTERTAINER:
As one of the first to make master entertainer on the server of ahazi (#2) ...i will say this
1. cantina's have been ruined by afk/macrotainers using that exploit.
2. because cantinas are full of macrotainers no one talks in them... goes out of their way to visit them or wants anything to do with them... the dev's have never NOT EVER responded to the musician top5 or any of it for that matter and we are a rare breed now.
Even those of us who still play dont play as often ... of the first 20 masters on ahazi only 3 now play... all of the original master dancers except 1 do not do it anymore... the state of the entertainer is not good its crappy... the very first thing is to get rid of afking that is where the downfall started... and the second thing is to make mind wounds/ bf more prevelant
when the cantinas are fun again and people have a more of a reason to go to them like before... then the state of the entertainer will be good
welp thats my 2 cr
-out
Just my two cents... (sorry, i'ts a repost)
AFK'ing per se is not a problemin my opinon. Look at it this way... I have my own cantina in the middle of Lok... I have to step away from the keyboard but by leaving my toon in AFK mode, some poor wounded warrior can come in and get a heal - I'm the only place for miles! I don't necessarily expect tips, but I AM STILL providing a necessary role in the game.
Another way to look at it... I watch tv shows and movies. THOSE actors and actresses or singers may be in bed a sleep as I'm watching the recording.. but it still does me some good! Their macros performance still entertains me and helps me relax.
Macros are not a problem - leave them as is.
The problem is the Holosurfing of professions. The GREAT assumption now is that 99.9% of all ppl in cantinas are only there following a holocron. This did ruin the public opinion of true entertainers and hurt our economy. Let them holosurf all the fighting professions they want... but they messed with a profession that was ALL ABOUT building relationships with our customers.

On ALL servers ALL mission types are "Dancer" non are musicain. 0 out of 4 of my last missions where completeable, ether by dancing or playing music.
It's true that the type can be mis-reported in the datapad but the type you get on the mission terminal should be correct. As long as you remember which type you chose on the terminal (most of us would choose one or the other, not both) you should be fine.
To complete them, you must dance/play non-stop for about 10 minutes. If you rest then you have to start over. It wasn't always like that but it seems to be the current state of things.
The devs know about the problem. The reason it's not a top-5 item is, I suppose, that the payouts are so low that most people don't bother doing them after the first couple.
If they ever increase the payout to match delivery missions, say, then we might see more entertainers concerned wtih the faulty mechanics of the missions.
Well, fellow entertainers, this is likely to be my last official posting here. My account runs out on Jan 2. There doesn't seem to be a replacement yet, though I know that Thunderheart is working on it.
The official response to all of our top five issues is, in a nutshell, "We're working on it".
A large number of our issues/wish-list have to do with game mechanics (anti-afk code, new missions, new songs/dances, etc...) all of which are long-term goals to reach. The one that I'm disappointed to have still had no action or explanation on is the pay rate of the missions, even with three correspondents (dancer/entertainer/musician) all putting the issue out there. Hopefully, the correspondent who replaces me will have better luck with this.
Thanks again, and best of luck in whatever adventures await you all in the galaxy in the coming year. It was a great experience representing you all. The folks of this forum have always been constructive and supportive and I hope you'll continue to carry that tradition forward with the new correspondent when he or she is appointed.
Keep the tunes flowing!

I read a good suggestion for rewarding ATK players and now I can't remember who posted it, but it wasn't me.
The suggestion related to missions. That is, making missions that required more than one profession. For example:
Combat type fights to save a prisoner and then the Doctor and Entertainer have to heal him (the prisoner).
A great suggestion. Then we, as entertainers, share in the larger mission payout and still assume very low risk. (Unless you wanted to group up at the beginning of the mission and follow the fighter(s) into the jailhouse, but you'd still have to go to a cantina for the BF healing.)
Missions of this type would encourage and reward ATK play and add to combat/entertainer interaction. I hope the guy who posted this idea first sees this and adds his ideas.
