Thread: Buffs
Funny thiing is that a buff of 200 just didn't seem to make that much of a difference to me. Now that I'm makeing R level packs with buffs hitting a minimum of around 600 to up past 2000 if I get that lucky (Average around 1100-1200, I'd say) that completely changes. And this if for a full set of buffs, not just Action and Health. At those levels you can special all you want to and just not have to worry about it even with a high HAM-csot weapon if you aren't using a rifle. And I'm sure if we had some of the high-level Cheff mind buffs even that could be alleviated.
INow keep in mind that I have level 4 Carbine, bu I'f got a health of all of 700 with no real regen. So I buffed myself up the other day, and decided to see what I could solo. I took a pack of 4 Robas (little piggies) on Talus and didn't even bother to move. Just let them hit me. No problems.
Hmm... time to really jump it up a notch. Kimas (like the Endoridan Jaxs) are a pretty good Red mob that hit really hard but that wasn't a problwm when they were slow. So I solo 2 at once. I can hold off one with Action shot and just completely ignore the ont that's hitting me at my feet. I regen Health and Action so fast that I barely need to worry about these things.
Then came the Dalyrakes. Tougher there. They are big enough that they WILL cause lots more mind hits. No standing there and letting these guys hit on you if you can help it, besides they have poison, dizzy, stun and blind attacks that could get thrown into the mix. But they don't take me down in 2 hits anymore (these guys would eat more for breakfast without buffs) soI can still solo them pretty darned well. And I was wondering how on earth I would ever get up in ranged weapons support with Group XP being what it is right now and my having to constantly heal folks in a group. I guess now I know how to do it. ![]()
So yeah, a 200 buff realy didn't seem to be a noticeable difference. But get that buff into the thousands and it makes a MASSIVE difference. Anyone not clamboring for that level of a buff is just not realizing how godd this stuff really is!
A buff is anything that improves your character, in SWG these are usually to your stats (although things like skill modifier attachments and BE tissues in clothing that improve skills would probably also fit). The buff is a temporary increase, although they can range from 10s on a foraged melon, to 1-2 hours from a doctor or entertainer buff.
The stat buffs are shown on your character sheet (ctrl-c)in the "modifiers" column. Say you get a +800 health buff from a doctor, the health row will have "800" in that column, and the value column will reflect that increase. If you then eat a chef food that adds 100 to your health, the modifiers column will have "900", the total of the two.
The buffs can be to any of your nine stats: the three pools (Health, Action, and Mind), the three "usage" stats that determine how many pool points are drained for actions (Strength, Quickness, and Focus), and the three "regen" stats that determine how quickly your pools heal naturally (Constitution, Stamina, and Willpower).
If you know how to craft a Stimpack, it's about the same.
You fetch the resources, make some parts in the factory, and start creating the "Stim". Then you will have somewhat 18-22 Charges, with like 700-910 Baseheal on a "Enhance Action D".
Then you buff, and poff, one charge goes away, etc etc.

Hi all, im a little new to this and wondered, how do I attain Buffs? is it through just eating food/spices? or do doctors have a marvelous skill such as /buff or the like and just power me up so to speak? thanks for the time/trouble of reading this thanks in advance
There are 3 types of buffs that you can get in SWG. BTW the marvelous skill you speak of is /healEnhance, which is granted at Doctor Wound Treatment 2. All the buffs in the game require an item to be crafted(food, spice or enhance packs).
- Food - Crafted by Artisans and Chefs. These can last a decent amount of time and can help with missions easy. These can also stack up to 4 times (I believe) with more food buffs. You can take food items with you and eat them at any point (assuming you're not full). I have heard these are under a major revamp to be more powerful than they currently are. Forgive me for any errors as I don't know too much about food buffs.
- Spice - Crafted by Smugglers. These are the quick and dirty highly potent buffs (good for those surprise encounters). They last a shorter time (a few minutes) than the food buffs and have after effects (downers). Like food buffs these can be taken with you and used at any time.
- Enhancements - Crafted and Applied by Doctors. These are the current power buffs of SWG. These can last over 3 hours for the highest power. These buffs must be applied by a Doctor in a Med Center, Camp, or with a Med Droid. The most powerful of these buff must be applied by a Master Doctor.
Now as to how to attain them. Several Master Doctors don't carry enhance packs with them, so you'll just have to ask if a Doctor is available for a buff. Don't be discouraged if they don't, as highquality enhance packs are hard to craft at times. Smugglers are not difficult to find at times, and you can usually find spices in crates. Chefs are the hard ones to find, but a good chef will most likely have a vendor with crates of food buffs. Good luck in your hunting for the buffs that suit you best.
