Thread: U asked for changes so where are all the non-afkers?

Wanted to try the new crafters buff and i spent 2 hours of my play time looking for any entertainer that wasnt afk. To my avail i couldnt find any today. Tried planet chat, entertainers channel, etc, etc. and still couldnt find anyone. Found plenty of people afk spamming , "thanks to all those who tipped", jeez, no offense, but your no better then a bunch of pan-handlers.

I'm little frustrated, u guys have been given an oppurtunity to bring back some life to this profession and everyone ive seen just wants to make money while afk. U asked for changes and not one person out of maybe 30 people i tried were at the keyboard. maybe they should make the new crafters buff a food, so at least the new content will be used. U have wasted dev's time in bringing u some love when other professions could of used it.

Appoligies to those who are actually at the keyboard, but im a little pissed.

Some notes and comments.

1. This patch JUST CAME OUT for flipping, freaking, crying out loud. Give us more than 72 hours to get up to speed on it. New dancers and musicians who are excited about these buffs haven't had time to change skills and skill up yet. Yeesh! Patience is a virtue, they say.

2. As to the AFK spam-bots. I agree, they are lame. Everyone who reads this forum will agree (or 99% will). You are posting on a forum whose population consists almost exclusively of people who do NOT do this. So saying "your no better than pan handlers" to us is inaccurate. WE are not the pan-handlers. The AFK spambots are. AFK spambots' players are not reading the entertainer forum unless it's to find a new "buffing macro", because they don't care to actually PLAY their entertainers.

3. There are few At-keyboard entertainers because people like YOU supported the AFKers for 2 years. The At-keyboard people mostly quit. So now, you're going to have to wait until some new people decide to try out these professions. Or you're going to have to track down those of us still here. The lack of at-keyboard entertainers can be blamed on SOE, or on the greedy buff-grabbers who cared only about their buff NOW, and not the long-term health of the game. It CANNOT be blamed on the remaining at-keyboard people who have been playing their profession properly for two years in spite of such treatment by greedy buff-grabbers, selfish AFK spambots, and ignorant devs. I will not accept the blame for behavior I have been railing against for two years. Nor, I think, will any of the rest of the entertainers around here.

I am only one person. I can only perform so much. But I will say this. I spent 5 hours online today... 3 in the afternoon, 2 tonight. I frequented Mos Eisley, which got tons of combatant traffic, and Coronet, which in 2 hours got a whopping ZERO people. We are out there. You're just going to have to find us. Unfortunately SOE did not see fit to give us any way to tell you where we are in the galaxy. That is not our fault. It is SOE's. We have been asking for better ways ot advertise our presence (galaxy-wide) for 2 years. Do not blame us that SOE has not given us such mechanisms.

If there are so all-fired many crafters running around as the whining would indicate, looking for buffs and unable to get them, why didn't any turn up during my 5 hours of play, eh? People certainly found me for image designing (I did 6 people today). But for buffing, no one was interested. This is my fault? Please.

i was looking for u about 2 hours ago. zydon told me to look u up. im not pissed at at-keyboard players, im pissed that u guys have been given new content, and there is still a large number of guys still afking in cantinas. There is no shortage of entertainers, there is a shortage of entertainers at the keyboard.

AFK entertainers dont read these forums so you basically beating a dead horse, ive only been an entertainer for around 2 weeks, ive reached master musician and the only times i went AFK was when i was sleeping in a private cantina in my home city, all other times im at the key board of generally near it

If you are on Naritus (which is the only way to "look me up" since that's where my only remaining character lives), then I recommend you join the GES chat channel. That's monitored by most of the remaining live entertainers.

I will tell you right now there are not a lot of us. The AFKers, lack of content, etc, drove most of us out of the game. My entire band went kaput because I was one of the only two left -- two quit, two others hardly ever play their entertainer alts, two more changed profs. There are may 20 or 30 total live entertainers on Naritus left, if that.

We *can* service most of the people who want it, but I think what is happening right now is we are missing each other. There's no way to easily tell you where we are, or for you to let us know where you need us.

I suggest tracking down the known live performers and putting them on your friends list, so you can send them a tell and such. Again if you are on Naritus you would want to look for people like:
Dejah Thoris (me)
Cindal Harbinger (who runs GES)
Tesssa Talbo (not sure of the last name... first name is right, 3 s's)
Unstoppable-jo (new but very into entertaining)
Dakira Okagee (again not sure of last name... first name is correct)
Qwaii Anun-Meijarr
Renea
Coo'vi

I am forgetting lots of other names. I'll add more when I get online and check the channel listing. But in any case, join GES and do "/ges Hey is anyone performing right now? I'd like a buff." If anyone is online we will be happy to help. Again, Naritus only. I can't speak for other servers.

*EDIT* - Ask Cindal for a list of names. She has us all on a mailing list and stuff.

Give us a break. We can't be logged in one-hundred percent of the time. If you want to help encourage At the keyboard entertainers, never tip someone who's AFK or a spammer.

If SOE really wanted to eradicate AFK'ing, they'd maked all buffs active. But they didn't. The general combat xp buff is still passive and can be given AFK. That's just a slap in the face as far as I'm concerned.

Let's wait and see.

I am guessing they are trying to see how these active buffs work for a while. Some crafters love it. Others are complaining vociferously about not being able to find the entertainers. But there aren't that many crafters left. Imagine if the combatants wanted a buff and couldn't get one....

My guess is they want to see if this brings in some more live entertainers to support the new system. If it does, they might go 100% active buffs. If not, they might move to 100% passive instead. We'll have to see what happens.

Actually, AFK dancers and musicians are a LOT like empty or near-empty vendors. They look like the real thing but then you find out they don't have what you are after.... AND they give everyone in that field a bad name.
