Thread: AFKers annoying? Buffbots got you down? Union of Cantina Workers is looking for new members
Are you an entertainer who istired of cantina management hiring cheap unskilled labour (AFK scabs) who perform poorly and alienate your customers, resulting in lower tips?
Have you had enough of buffbot blacklegs hired bya reactionarycity governmentto put hardworking entertainers out of business for good?
Fed up with the elitist Jedi and Sith, who think entertainers (who, after all, have as many midichlorians as any other group of beings) can't be members of their order?
Are you appalled that slavery still exists in the galaxy, and that entertainers are its most common victims?
Tired of combat professionals who treat entertainers as second-class citizens?
Had enough of cantina management whoallow rude andunscrupulouscustomers toget theirentertainment without paying for it?
Did Jabba the Hutt feed your slave/dancer sister to the Rancor?
Are you tired of certain members of thepublic treating us as if we're little more thanprostitutes?
Had enough of cantina owners who force us to work for tips and refuse to pay us a steady paycheck?
Are you just sick and tired of the lack of respect that entertainers receive throughout the galaxy?
Do you just feel unappreciated and need a group hug?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, it's time for you to do something about it - join the union! The UCW is here to make sure that you have a strongvoice in your community and in your galaxy. The cantina owners, the city government, the Sith, the Jedi, and the Galactic Empirehave billions to spend onpropaganda that keeps us exactlywhere they want us - down and out and begging for their table scraps. But that can change. If we band together we can become a force to be reckoned with at the bargaining table. Our demands can be met, and withthe strong voice that the union provideswe can finallyforce a fair contract down the throats of the powers that seek to oppress and enslave us.
The UCW will organize well-planned and well-populated events that will further our cause and that will bring the public onto our side. With humour and wit, we will alert the people to our cause, and strike fear into the hearts ofthe powers of repression and slavery. Where there is injustice, we will be there - united -to stop it.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The UCW is not a guild (although if members want it, it could develop into one).It is a loose but committed support group of SWG players who play as entertainment characters and who share common goals, and who stand in solidarity with each other to air our grievances in a lighthearted but effective way.We will get together to attend weekly events, as recently suggested by Warryyr, and we will come to the aid of fellow entertainers when they feel threatened or annoyed with buffbots and AFKers. We are not here to grief other players. On the contrary, the UCW will behave in a way that makes protest fun for everyone.Humour and mutual respect are our watchwords. This is a way for disenchanted players to get a new feeling of fun in the game, by venting their frustration in a positive and healing way.We will roleplay a union in the game, and our fellow players will grow to love us.We will entertain them, we will make them laugh, and thereby we will make the difference and turn this game experience around, both for ourselves and for everyone else.
Members will get together via email or on game forums to share slogans and to discuss issues and how to best translate them into the game via roleplaying.Members will be kept posted of events, and hopefully each member will create a character on each server so that we can occasionally enjoy mass action on a particular server – to really bring our point home.Lag is a possibility at these events, so if attendance promises to be high, we may spread the event over a few servers so that our activities don’t upset other players.
The union will be run as a direct democracy. Each member will have an equal voice.Administrators will be voted in by the membership, and elections will be held whenever any two members decide a vote is necessary regarding any issue or to change administrators (assuming someone else wants the job).Details will follow when it’s clear that the union is something that enough people are interested in being a part of.
The first event I’m considering is an anti-slavery march on Tatooine (march route and server to be determined). That should get things off to a humorous start.Let’s discuss ideas for events – anyone can get the ball rolling.Let’s make the events funny, but with an underlying serious message.
If you're interested in joining the UCW, send me a message or email me at [email protected]

The Cantina Bosses are trying to turn the blame back onto the downtrodden! Never will they admit to the racket they have created, and the de-humanizing (and de-twi'lekizing, and de-zabrakising, et. al.) tactics employed against us to keep us down!
Shake off your bonds, and stand tall, entertainers!

Xyrdre- Yes, I've heard of roleplaying and I do not advocate that sexually devient behavior. Your a prime example of the slime that are of this "movement", attempting tobring me an upstanding member of the citizenry, into your strange acts of perversion. Roleplaying!( *cough* hey xyrdre, if you didn't get the parody of myposts I think the entire thing is completely lost upon you. *cough*)

"Howdo these entertainers expect to make money with thier obviously pre-fab moves they learned from thier teachers?"
Well, it's not the limited number offlourishesthat separates the good entertainers from the bad (after all, the Galactic Dance Council only allows a certain number of movements - that's how oppressed we performers are)- it's how you string that limited number of flourishestogether in a routine. If you just use the old flourish, flourish, pause routine you learned in training, yeah, you're just cruising along on your training, but a realperformer will time each movement and place all the moves in a routine that is unique andentertaining. That's the art of the profession.

A routine that they never change many times, merely working the same as these AFK entertainers. It is not as though they are improvising on the fly any more, as a majority. Truely, it is rare to find entertainers willing to planmidpreformance everymove they wish to do. A song may be well and fine to play, but I do not see how it is deserving of money if that person plays the same songs hours on end and even more attempting to talk while playing. That is the virutue of the "AFKers", as you so roughly call them in your slang of revolution and chaos. They focus more on thier music as opposed to speaking to every person who comes in the door, as if the people wished them to speak to them. Everyoneknowsvery well that a person only comes to a cantina for a fix of drink and a spot of music that every citizen needs after a hard day of work. It is you, rabble rousers and uprisers the lot, who draw imaginary lines and position your entire statments behind them.
Now, to adress an attack on my person, I have always been a hard working employee of Jabba the Hutt, as an entertainer and in other fuctions. As it is now he rarely calls on my services as I have my own... band... to look after. These personal attacks are a foreshadow of what is to come by this vile and caustic organization. May the entertainer community not be stirried up by these that wish to make it seem as though they are looking out for the best of the community.

If that was true, why haven't we heard more from you before about the lackluster performanceson offer in the cantinas? If you need the music, why have you accepted mediocrity for so long? Why is it only now, with the threat of union organization, that you speak out?
I smell a union-buster.

You haven't heard more from me about the subject because there is no way to change it. Only the muses, some abstract god type figure, could give us some way to spice our performances. Or sexual acts, such as described above. No, I am not speaking out on the mediocrity even now, I'm speaking out on the similarity of the services of the "AFKers" and those who consider themselves different. I'm bringing a true light upon the fact that the services are exactally the same and equally satisfactory. There is no reason why a union should be orgnized to fight for some difference where none exists, no reason to form a union of disunion. Why would people rush to your aid merely because you place on the matle of the great unions before you, such as the Smuggler's Alliance when you are after no great deed as such people.
I'm not sure I'm following this line of thinking. If I'm correct here, you're saying that only an act of the "abstract god type figure"...ie, devs, can give us a way to spice up our performances. Then, you're saying that the smugglers are different? How? Aren't they asking for the same thing?
We're asking for the devs to make us viable. And, frankly, if they would, we wouldn't have to argue with each other anymore. ![]()
