Thread: Underwear Dancers and other such stuff

Am I the only one who finds the whole underwear dancing thing unattractive and somewhat annoying? The starting clothes for the profession aren't THAT bad, and getting a new shirt and pants is only a couple hundred credits, which you start with anyways. It just seems stupid to me to see a character flailing about in her granny panties and sports bra, even after I offer hera suit of clothes. ( I actually gave someonean exotic leotard I had made, and she turned around, sold it, and kept dancing in her underwear. **edit**)

Also, I'm thinking that if someone wears a vest and doesn't wear a shirt under it, it should show the default bra/tanktop skin, instead of bare skin.. I've seen waaaay too many people dressed in just hotpants and a vest, begging for tips and making thinly veiled attempts at sexual innuendo to earn those tips.. it reminds me too much of some sort of 'teen chat' from Yahoo! or something.

I don't like underwear dancers.

But I don't like your idea of having the shirt under a vest and such. They're made for that reason. Granted, it's not appropriate that females can wear them with nothing underneath, but I don't see why guys can't. For that matter, I don't see why guys can't go SHIRTLESS either. And I know for a fact that male torsos are textured bare, because I've seen my guy completely shirtless due to some odd sort of bug that caused his body armor to vanish.

But honestly, I don't see a problem with that. It'd be like asking them to let you see the "bra and panties" under the flesh wrap and exotic leotard.

They look so tacky. Sometimes I feel bad for them because they have to compete with everyone in their flesh wraps.

But I almost find it just as weird to see someone doing rythmic dancing in fleshwarps.

I don't like underwear dancers won't group with them as a dancer or tip them as a artisian but I think I understand how they happen.

I think a part of it is that the newbie clothing for entertainers are soo horrid (at least the females) baggy droppy pants and a very unflatterting shirt. Taking the shirt off you get the sports bra look that while everyone knows its your bra at least it looks better than your newbie clothing. I don't think that wearing your briefs looks better than the diaper pants no matter how ugly they are

So the newbie takes off the top in the hopes of looking a bit better then some walking hormone comes in and approves of the look with a tip and boom the underwear star is born.

Granted not all underwear dancers underwear dance for this reason. There's no excuse to underwear dance past the first tip though you can get shorts and a top at any bazaar for less than 100 credits. I outfitted a new performer with nice pants jacket shirt and boots with just one set of delivery missions. My feeling is that most underwear dancers are really teenage males that have no idea what true sexuality is and still get off spying on their sisters slumber parties in hopes of seeing one of the girls in her undies.

I have no problem with people dancing in their skivvies. I can't even see what the big deal is, except that they're white. I also don't see the difference in the underwear and, say, "hot pants" and the small bustier. I have problems with people who act like jerks; the obviously hard-up guys who go over the top with making dancers look like prostitutes (by actions, not clothes). It's been a while since I've seen that, though.

Still, I'm hoping for thigh-high boots, thongs and pasties. Any day now...

Hey! Don't be jealous! My thin avatar, when she started out dancing, bought a pair of black short-shorts, black slippers and a black Casual Jacket, and had small breasts. All she could dance was Rhythmic2 at that point, and made great tips!

Sometimes, you need to /changedance and get away from the slow stuff, people like to see a cute girl boogie in a different outfit. Even though it's lower exp, it adds variety when you're in a small group in any city other than Coronet (like Mos Eisley, or Kadaara) and you can play coy, cute, shy or sassy. I now have a house packed with outfits and I grab different ones all the time. I'm not even a dancer anymore, but people are constantly asking me where I get my clothes and hairstyles and makeup. I'm a major source of business to Image designers and master tailors on my server! Lose the Fleshwrap, put on a sensual dress and some matching gloves, and be original!

In some cases it's a knowledge issue- players jump into the game as entertainers and don't really know where to start. They don't know to check the bazaar, and they don't know any of the local craftsmen either. So they come to the cantina, and if there aren't any veteran performers there, they end up trying to figure things out on their own.

One of the things I enjoy doing most is assisting and training new entertainers. I know all the local tailors (and consider most of them good friends) and will often ask them to make a nice outfit for a starting musician or dancer, and cover the cost myself. I also give away clothing I've replaced- my white leotard went to a new dancer just last night, though Ifind this less effective- commissioning lets the novice entertainer choose what she'd like.Obviously, this doesn't work for the dedicated undie dancers (and I have no idea how they think the undies are more attractive than a red small bustier and hot pants), but if you know it's just someone trying to figure things out on their own (and you can tell easily from watching them), try this sometime.

"Still, I'm hoping for thigh-high boots, "

They have these under the armor section....bone armor boots.

Put them together with normal clothes, and you have HR Geiger Hooker Boots.

I thought under wear dancing was funny, especially when its a load of male characters.

I am so, so, so against Pantydancers. I, too, have offered naked newbies clothing, only to have them store it in their inventory and continue to dance in their skivvies. We've had customers come into the cantina and beg them to put on some clothes, to which they just....giggle...wink....and continue dancing in their panties. A certain entertainer who shall remain nameless (her dancer name defies belief)daced nearly-naked into her master dancer skill trees, and only put on a black bodysuit (no gloves or boots) recently. Still dancing barefoot.

A LITTLE DIGNITY, please.

Yeah, I'm a snob.
