Just posted this in the development forum wanted to pass it on to you all as well.

-----

Just wanted to comment to all players and devs on this creature known in the entertainment field as a L.A.M.Er.

First I was an entertainer, loved the profession problem was these vile creatures appeared and spread. Which is ruining the profession for other good entertainers. These are the people that have given good entertainers a bad reputation. Some of these are also the people supporting a web site that offers them information on macro to power while afk site they have to pay to join.

This vile creature stands there dancing/playing music for you sometimes with (AFK) over their head, or just standing there, spouting off 'Hey tip the musician', 'let's get down and party' or one of my favorites, 'Tip me and I will strip for you'. And normally that is not a problem, but the macro keeps cycling over and over click... click... /repeat Now there is a difference in the poor person who has to suddenly go check on their child or food burning, (you get the idea) and has to run afk, this is fine and their auto (AFK) might kick in, but I have an option for the DEVS listed below on that as well so as not to hinder these people.

To the Devs:

Please look into removing the choice of being able to turn auto AFK off. Leave it with a limit from 1 min up to 20 min tops. This way L.A.M.Er's cannot turn this off and try to get around the (AFK) display. And will ruin a lot of these places selling users tips and information on running afk macroing. This will not ruin macros just that they actually have to be at the keyboard more than leaving it running all night.

Another choice in addition would be if you go AFK you just stop all actions, you can walk and run around (good for following someone while you get a drink or see if the family is still alive or something in RL), but no actions would work, just like trying to harvest while fighting?

To the players:

Ignore Lamers, look for the dancer/musician who actually chats with you, about the weather, your health, your occupational hazards that put your body in such a bad shape. I know many entertainers who will kick L.A.M.Er's out of groups and will put them on ignore lists from then on. Never letting them join a group again no matter how much they whine and curse at people. Also, if you suspect someone is a L.A.M.Er without the AFK tag like I experienced last night, here is a way to find out. First, send them a tell if not AFK they should respond, 'Hi, are you there? or Hello, can I ask you a question? etc... get creative. If they respond good, you got a live at the keyboard body. This is a entertainer you want to watch, and if your wounded, and feeling a generous offer, tip them. They are here, they are actively playing. If you dont get a response and give them time, I waited 30 seconds. Then tip them 1 credit, walk away and send them a tell saying 'If you were there, you would have gotten 500, 1000 credits. Thank you for being a L.A.M.Er and healing me for free.'

So you say, well they have /denyservice, but thats going to be a L.A.M.Er who isn't giving anyone service. While the poor strugling novice entertainer working at the craft or the Master Entertainer who has earned the craft at the keyboard gets flamed for wondering why people don't tip them. I was an entertainer at the keyboard when I played music. If I had to leave, it's real easy to sit down to the side and go afk for a bit. No macros other than the standard built in /flourish macros. I had a good share of tips and it was a good craft. But my needs to continue my character build up led me a different path. So now I need the entertainment healing of my mind, and I do tip according to my damage and the entertainment factor I received.

So, if you see a L.A.M.Er, just say no and find a real entertainer who is trying to enjoy the game and not power themselves up the chart.

DEVS: I hope this information can bring up a discussion amongst your teams. There are many players becoming disgusted and well just losing faith in a profession they came to love. I enjoyed my time as an entertainer but my life took a different turn and I chose a new path to pursue.

I don't really enjoy these L.A.M.Ers either and wish something would be done about it. I see the use for macros when your trying to chat and such but when you're just doing it to leave it there all night is abuse or an exploitI would say. I don't have the need or desire to macro all night just to level, I believe half the fun is the experience you have getting those hard earned XP's. There's my 2credits worth

Galpar,

I realize you are trying to get a point across, but this is the third board that I know of where you posted this. You're getting a tad excessive.

I *love* this anacronym. LOVE it.

(Posting here, because, well, my like of the name has very little to do with any constructive discussion that may or may not exist in the original thread.)

Why do you care if they are (AFK) or not? You still get healed. Just dont tip the ones who are (AFK) or donttip them as much.

When running by a (AFK) Artisan sampling away for resources, do you think to yourself...look at that lazy artisan, afk sampling. Well I'm never buying anything from them or anything made with their resources they got while akf sampling. The leastthey could do is be there whiletheirsampling for hours and hours and hours and hours...

You probably have bought resources from artisans who (AFK) sampled them all day,so whyare (AFK) entertainersdifferent?

Just be glade that (AFK) entertainer didnt quit when they had to go do something besides play the game and chose to be (AFK) instead so you could get healed. And you might say, "Well, I would just watch an entertainer who is not (AFK)." but when all the entertainers that arent(AFK)quit for the day, the only ones left to heal you will be the (AKFERS). You could also say, "Well, I would just wait and find one that isnt (AFK)." but what if yourHAM was down to just 1and you were stuck in Wayfar, Tatooine where there isnt a shuttle thereso you have to run to the towns that are 2000+m away and would probably die along the way. That (AFK) entertainer just saved you.

Also like to note that a lot of those who watch/listen to entertainers or go sit in the medcenter getting healed usually always go (AFK). So should the entertainersdeny you for being (AFK) or should the medics stop healing your wounds for being (AKF)?

Ive been an entertainer for just a few days to see what it was all about and quickly droped it. It was VERY VERY boring. I dont know how yall stick with it and reach Master. Thanks for not dropping it like i did so you can heal me.
