I got the game yesterday, and my first character is a T'wilek entertainer (on the way to being a dancer). Wandering around Tatooine, lots of people were friendly and showed me how to get around in-game (waypoints - for some reason, I couldn't remember the /find command) Anyway, I eventually found a cantina, and began to dance.

Within 5 minutes, I'd been tipped about 500 creds. Another 5 minutes, and I got invited into a group. Over the course of the next 2 hours, I got Dance 1, Entertainer Healing 1, and **edit** near every language from random passerby who just felt like helping out. One person (a friendly Rodian scout) gave me some extra clothes and shoes - free. The best part was the guys who kept dueling each other - they'd fight, heal, fight some more, and all the while they were tipping nicely and getting me and my group a ton of xp.

Anyway, not a single incident of anyone being rude, demanding a topless dance, or anything like that - just friendly folks. Heck, a medic even volunteered to heal me for free while I danced, so we could both benefit. After 3 hours total, I had a few thousand credits, some awesome outfits, and a bunch of new friends. There is a group forming later today that is going to go hunting, and they invited me along to share the wealth, as well as to help 'em heal up - win win.

Just a totally cool community - very friendly, very helpful, and very generous. Now all I need to do is figure out how to make dance 2 in less than a year, as well as figure out how to color-coordinate my wardrobe

Sounds like you had a great first day! Couple pieces of advice for your outing - be sure and remind your group ahead of time that you can't heal battle fatigue in a camp, only in a city. And to get your level II faster find the biggest group of entertainers is all I can suggest - the more people entertaining, the larger the dance/music xp gains are. Welcome to the wonderful worl... cliche nm hehe

Ah, a good point to remind my group of! I think they might know - one of them said "You'll be a leech for awhile, but don't worry." Of course, he could have meant that a different way. When can I heal ina camp?

Oh, and, had my first run-in with someone who was doing undies lap-dances and being stupid. She kept coming by people who were watching me and shaking her booty in their faces. I cannot say how gratifying it was that my watchers pretty much all told me "I put her on my ignore list." Yay - class and style matter

A question or 3 about entertainer:

1) Do you get more exp if you're wearing a more complex outfit? I noticed that I was getting more xp once I'd changed into clothing other than the default. It may have just been more people watching, but I dunno.

2) To become a dancer, you just need to get really good at dancing, right? No worrying about music, image design and all that?

3) How do you learn those neat special effects, and do they do anything for your performance, other than encourage people to watch?

4) (Oops, 1 too many q's) Would Dancer/Teras Kasai (spelling?) be a wise professional choice? I was thinking that'd be a good combo - dance for 'em, and then knock 'em around if they get frisky.

To answer your first question, no, you could be wearing your underpants on your head and you'd still be getting the same amount of XP as normal.

To answer question 2, correct, you can master dancer without taking any skills in anything else, just go up the dancer tree! If you take time to master entertainer as well as dancer, though, you'd get two extra dances you wouldn't normally get, but they aren't very worth it.

Question 3, dancers and musicians get them cool special effects when they go up the dancing/musical techniques tree (I think that's what it's called) which is in the Dancer/Musician profession. I don't use mine much.

And your last question...Teras Kasi can turn out to be a VERY strong combatant in the end. Dancer/Teras Kasi also makes sense too, they both deal with their bodies rather than external objects (pistols or instruments, for example.)

And yes, it looks like you had an awesome first day, just like when I first got SWG. Those were the days, jumping around and getting excited over playing a Fizzz for the first time.

The sad thing is, no whenever I see a post like this... I always have to check if it's a necro. Not many peopleposts about a good noob experience as an entertainer these days

Well, I'm a noob, having had the game for just over a week. I originally created a character hoping to taking part in GCW, but I wasn't impressed when I discovered that PVP wasn't even remotely Star Wars like (unless I missed the scene where Leia, Han and Lando suited up in composite armor and stopped by the local pharmacist for drugs before going into battle). So, disheartened, I started another character on Kettemoor who was orginally going to be an artisan, but after trying out the entertainer profession I fell in love.

Grinding other professions by running around punching hundreds of Worrts or spending hours upon hours of collecting samples to craft a bunch of junk that's far too inferior to the abundance ofgear readily available from master craftsmen, is just... well... lame. Dancing in popular cantina where you can socialize and have fun is a completely experiance, though... it's actually fun!

I started dancing Saturday and by last night I had Dancing IV and Entertainer Healing IV and I'm over 16k of the way to the required 50k Exp forNovice Dancer... with no cheap AFKing. The best part is I've had a blast doing it. I'm at work, now, and I finally had some time to read the Dancer advanced guide... "Sultina's Dance School", and I'm even more psyched now than ever, as there's so much more to be an entertainer than I ever could have imagined.

Oh.. and I'm working towards Smuggler, too, so I haven't totally given up on bashing Worrts. However, at Pistols III and Unarmed II, it's progressing much slower... let's face, I find it hard to drag myself out of the Cantinato work at it.

This was priceless. You have to stop making me laugh out loud at work. People look at me funny (funnier than normal, I mean).
