Thread: Pilots Unaffected by Wounds and Battle Fatigue

Currently Pilots are able to fully function with 1000 battle fatigue. There is absolutely no need, as long as you are staying in space and not doing ground missions, to seek the services of an Entertainer, Musician or Dancer.

This is a significant lack of integration with the ground game. I'd recommend this be raised as one of your "issues of concern" with your correspondent.

On the other hand, pilots always take wounds when they die. No way to store clone data to get around it. So with the exception of people who spend 100% of their time in space (Which I suspect will be rare) people will want to get healed.

I would like to see battle fatigue do something to pilots, but the what is a question that needs to be looked at very carefully since it's a different style of play.

But my smile still stays on
My soul is painted like the wings of butterflies

Pilots do incur Battle Fatigue and Wounds if their ship is exploded, but you are correct in saying that the BF has no effect on actual piloting.

I do not see this being changed due to the twitch nature of JTL, although it would be nice.

Thanks for the concern Ewach

I sorta think that if the pilot really wants to let his BF get to that level, then woe to him as he is going to be in for a little downtime to get that much healed, especially if all he can find are novices to help him, heh.

Bah, they would just find a Buffbot/AFKtainer to heal them while they went for some munchies and a bio break

I agree. Fatigue should slow down reaction time, adding a bit of 'lag' to pilot controls. That would ensure that pilots are in the cantina as often as possible to keep their edge.

It needs to affect the only skill rolls in the pilot professions, of course. The abilities. Higher BF greatly increases chances of failures using the skill-based abilities. Whether or not that's really a major effect could be debated, but it's the only place that BF could have a real effect, unless it somehow starts tweaking component stats for the worse - an odd notion at best.

Don't worry the docs will not heal anyone with 1000 BF (it reduces the effectivness ofWound packs to rubbishness)so they will have to come to us.

It'd be nice if 1000 BF and massive wounds would impact piloting, but since it's twitch, that sort of thing is a tough call.

More than anything, I'm ecstatic that the Devs had the prescence of mind to see how the game desperately needed a source of health/action wounds for Doctor xp, and BF/Mind wounds for Entertainer Healing xp!

And brother, did they provide some BF and wounds to heal - dying in ships really bangs you upbadly!

Note the possibility, if you have bothcombat and crafting accounts, of using the crafting account for space combat ... never a need to heal since the two are split.

People will still come looking for us out of habit. They see black bars, they want them fixed, effect on piloting or not. If they steadily get over this reflex, we may suffer a slow period, until they exhaust the amusement possibilites of JtL, but eventually there will be an equalization between groundtime/spacetime for lots of people, and our "workload" will improve again. They get shot up in space, then decide the want to go hunting, they will need us to fix them up before they can do that.

The system is not springing any leaks, and it will self correct in time (for the better I think), at least in regards to this.
