Thread: Great (or so I've been told) entertainer healing XP

Disclaimer: I'm not an entertainer, and I don't know if this has ever been discussed before. I'm just going to type it up and you can do with it what you please.

My toon is a Master Combat Medic. As you may or may not know, that gives me the ability to heal mind damage (not wounds, just damage). Unfortunately, this comes at a great cost to me. Whenever I heal mind damage (someone else's... I can't heal my own), I sustain mind, focus, and willpower wounds. Basically I'm wrecking my mind to keep them from getting incapacitated. Due to the damaging nature of this skill, most combat medics (myself included) use it quite sparingly. However, there are some times when I use it liberally.

Last night I was leaving the geo cave and trying to keep my party alive (our mind buffs had expired). Since I was leaving anyways and knew I would be heading to Coronet after leaving the cave, I went ahead and cranked out the mind heals like crazy. I ended up sustaining over 600 mind wound and around 400 wound on focus and willpower.

When I arrived at the Coronet cantina, I started watching a dancer just inside the door (note to any Bloodfin entertainers: I always look for the novices becauseI figure they need the XP the most). Much to my surprise, there was a non-afk dancer behind me who commented on my mind wounds. I started watching her instead and we started talking about the healing XP. Given the wounds on all three mind stats, she was apparently getting some pretty good XP while she healed me. She was pretty nice (and good looking), so I after I repaired all my wounds I decided to help her out. Here's how...

1) I got out my best mind poison (NOT DISEASE). This stuff ticks for around 670. That's 670 mind damage (NOT WOUNDS) every ten seconds.

2) We dueled

3)I poisoned her

4) We both /end and /peace

5) She started dancing

6) I sat down and started watching

7) Every ten seconds when the poison would tick, I healed her mind and incurred hefty mind/focus/willpower damage

8) She did her flourish thing and healed the wounds I was incurring from healing her mind

By the time the poison wore off, even with her healing my mind while it was ticking, I incurred somewhere around 400-500 mind wounds for her to heal. It took a minute or two to heal my mind back up even after the poison subsided, and the poison lasts several minutes. She was flourishing the entire time in an entertainer group of 5 people and said she was getting 40XP per flourish. I'm not sure how the group thing works but she said it would probably be more like 100XP if she were in a larger group.

Again, I'm not an entertainer so I don't know how the healing skills progress as far as being able to flourish and heal more wounds or anything. Still, at 41000 entertainer healing XP needed for master entertainer, this means you can knock out the healing branch with 410 flourishes. Master dancer and master musician each require an additional 600,000 healing XP, so I guess you would need another 6000 flourishes to cap out on those. Can anyone verify these numbers?

I don't know if this helps anyone or not, but I figured I would offer it up as food for thought.

P.S. You don't have to worry about dieing. You can't die from poison alone.

lately I have found it good to take a junker ship into space, /escapepod 9-10 times, then visit the cantina with almost full Mind wounds and 1000BF.

I do this too... but I die so much from natural causes (6 tier 5s? No problem! I can solo this!) that I never seem to need the escape pod.

As to the original poster's point - I've seen this happen a lot, though not as hands on as your method. Usually the CM will duel a couple people in the group and mind disease them. It has to be a couple because you will not get xp for healing your own wounds, so if you diseased just one person they would be left out.

My best source of xp, by far, has been my guild on Wanderhome. It went without question that I would go on every Corvette run with them, even though I was only Master ID/Unarmed III at the time. I maxxed my healing xp before I was even 1/4 of the way through the third Entertainer music box. Not to mention all the cool badges!

Another great source of xp was fighting Giant Dune Kimogilas. Nasty disease. If it ticked beore the Doc could remove it, or if he had to heal our minds, we could put up a quick camp, heal, and keep going.

It feels very nice to be included in activites like these. If you have any guildmates who are entertainers definitely invite them on your combat runs. It's good fun.

Yep, leveling dancers love the friendly neighborhood CM...

Actually, I can confirm that your numbers aren't right. The healing XP coming in for entertainers isn't based on the flourishes (that's our dancing or music XP), but on the wounds and BF being healed. The group XP bonus applies to dance and music XP as well... healing XP isn't increased in larger groups (that I've noticed), it's just granted to all members of the group, thus providing a kind of multiplier for the community, not for an individual entertainer.

Course, there does seem to be a way to multiply the healing XP. If the wounded party both watches a dancer and listens to a musician in the same entertainer group, the healing XP does seem to increase. Not sure if it's doubled, but it is significantly higher that way. Tip 'o' the day there.

Quick heal from 4xxx medic is the best EH xp generator. Esp when this new patch goes thru with the vastly increased wound healing rate and xp rate, one person should be able to generate 100 EH xp per tick or so.

One of my best in-game friends is a very talented CM. We had quite a good thing going for a while. He and a couple of riflemen would participate in pvp play in the immediate vacinity of the Theed starport. I would dance in either the cantina or the hotel nearest the starport. He would keep the riflemen's blue bars filled and occasionally make a pass by me to get his wounds back under control. I always thought it would be very cool to have a squad leader around to share out the wounds to me using boost morale (?).

I use my CM half on tempest to help our local entertainers if someone asks, or theres someone will to take the diseases...I also sit there and mindheal people with diseases to give myself mind wounds, it works wonders.

Not long ago I dropped Master Musician thinking I wanted to be a Jedi. I know, I know..but I'm a tard. I needed two boxes of healing xp to get the master box back when I saw my CM buddy log in after being away at WoW for ages. So I sent him a tell "I Need Your Mind (wounds)". Within a few minutes he strolls into the Theed cantina and announces, "Esh wants her musician title back, who's taking a disease for her." And friends started lining up. Pretty soon another friend logs his CM and they're both tossing on each other and anyone else who'll stand still long enough to accept a duel. Wewere laughing and talking about the fun of AH back in the day, sniper houses and pvp without armor or buffs and creature handlers, base raids..memories. At 3 in the morning there were still 5 of us just hanging in the cantina and talking. I only had 30k to go but my face was hurting from laughing so much and it was way past time for sleep and I couldn't keep my eyes open another minute. That was definitely one of my most enjoyable nights in SWG and one I'll remember for a very long time.

My personal opinion entirely: Giving friends diseases; damaging yourself or others, whether self-inflicted or by duel, for the express purpose of healing; etc. is quite lame. I understand how you can use it to be nice, helpful, build a sense of community, whatever - but I mean, when it comes to schemes like this, people seem all too willing to put their characters up for a free massive beating. In the back of your mind, don't you ever get an impulse saying, "Hey, should I be treating myself or my friend like this?"

At one level, I can understand if people think I'm takin' it too seriously. "It's just a game," or so they say, as if they understand how I like to play games. But on another level, it's just plain old common sense. "Do you mind if I hack at you with this axe?" or "Do you mind if I give you a debilitating disease?" should be met with, under almost all circumstances, an emphatic "no."

Common sense is an uncommon virtue.

I think you meant to say "yes" as in "Yes, I do mind."

Leveling for leveling's sake is endemic to any game. I don't find fault with it, unless it closes the system. I find tumbling very bad because it stops healers from healing people. Countless times have I seen the wounded sitting on the beds, staring forlornly at the "healers" shoving stims up the *bleep* of the tumblers. However, I don't object to finding ways to enhance entertainer healing experience, since it doesnt stop anyone from receiving the services of the entertainer. I can't really fault someone's friend for going out and taking hits for the team so to speak, since as a friend, they would probably make a point to come seethem for their healing anyway. So, now or later, does it really matter? It's not like Esh is doing it to leave the cantina for good and begin life as a buffbot, she'll be there. She was there and live the whole evening, and made what sounds like a pretty fun party of the occasion. Don't get me wrong, I am all for self imposed guidelines in character growth too. I have toons that dont use any speeder except for the "newer cleaner burning" models, or don't speak anyalien languages, or are getting their Medical experience solely from truly healing. It's a fun way to make your game your own, but I don't fault someone for running back down a road they've already walked down once.
