Thread: Droid Combat Ratings

My discoveries thus far as an MDE have led me to conclude that the Droids rating system, as it pertains to combat droids, is very user UN-friendly when it comes to comparing droids and choosing a droid to purchase. All the buyer can see on a combat droid deed is the Combat Rating. The specific statistics pertaining to a given droid, (i.e. HAM, Resistances, Damage, Attack Speed, etc.) cannot be discovered until after the droid is 'Readied' and a control device is placed in the datapad. As you will soon see, I have discovered the combat ratingsto beextremely deceptive.

Advanced R3 Combat Droid

-6 Combat Modules

-Difficulty rating=18

-HAM=4477

-AttackSpeed=1.51

-ToHit=0.41

-Damage=160 to 170

-All resists=40%

-Original Combat Rating was 600.

Advanced Probot Attack Droid

-5 Combat Modules

-Difficulty rating=19

-HAM=3184

-AttackSpeed=0.75

-ToHit=0.41

-Damage=180 to 189

-All resists=40%

-Original Combat Rating was 536.

SUMMATION: The Advanced R3 Combat Droid is supposed to be the absolute best attack droid in the game based upon the number of combat modules it calls for to make it, which are stackable...but there is also a max cap of 600 imposed on it for some reason.

Based upon the stats I have discovered, the combat rating of a droid is apparently no way to accurately compare these droids. The Advanced Probot droids attack twice as fast and at considerably higher damage than their Advanced R3 counterparts. The combat rating is therefore only useful in comparing droids of the same type. This is very deceiving to shoppers that have no clue as to how to choose the best droid for the job.

It has also occurred to me that in a practical situation, where a combat droid would be usefull, neither of these droids holds up very long once a mob decides to target it, which can make them usefull only in certain extremely controlled situations where the player takes the damage while the droid is providing good back-up fire. I think they are nerfed down so badly that most players would rather not even bother with them in the first place, due to the inordinate amount of attention they require to keep alive during a fight. The requirement for the specific resources needed to make the higher end Repair Kits makes them too difficult to make well enough to be effective during combat, yet affordable.

The 40% Resistances CAP really kills these droids. Its bad enough that Master DE's aren't allowed to even think about making Droidekas, Battle Droids, or even Super Battle Droids, which have HAMS ranging anywhere from 10000 to 250000 with resistances up to 80 and 90%. I thought this game boasted that players will be making the BEST items in the game, not NPC Spawns. A droid is a droid is a droid, and a Master DE should be able to make ANY droid that exists.

One more thing, not even a Master DE can have any more than 5 droids in his Datapad, and one droid out at a time. Why can't a player have more than one combat droid, or any other droid out for that matter???

The 'Droids Rebuilt' patch, it seems, was nothing more than a big tease for players, and DE's alike. Heck, any player that goes Imp can get control of one or more ATSTs or ATATs. Now thats what I'm talkig about!!! Where is the balance???

Any replies at all would be welcome...thoughts, meanderings, whatever... )

There is a thread around here with an analysis, and then forumula of how the combat rating #'s convert. The probot ends up higher because it is supposed to be a combat droids. the r3 is more of a general use droid.

And FYI, the 40% resists is a display bug. The actual max droid resistance is 20%.
