Droid Engineer Archive

Good news for all those on the Ahazi server! We're having another Droid Engineer meeting this sunday, again in the coronet hotel. The points to discuss have yet to be decided, though we'll have regular updates throughout the week and you're welcome to email my in-game character, Woodrow, with suggestions for discussion topics. For those of you who missed hte first one or don't know anything about this, we have organized just about every DE on the server and now we meet regularly to chat about the profession, answer questions, and generally have a fairly decent time.

The plan is for sunday, though the time isn't set in stone yet. It'll most likely be some time between 7 and 9 EST, and I'll publish the exact starting time once we've decided.

We're also going a bit extravegant this time, making it an entirely formal affair. For guys, tuxedos will be the look and for ladies, formal gowns of your choice. Wookies can come as they are. The easiest Tuxedo look is a black plated necklase, white casual shirt, Black/Black Casual or stripedpants, a black jacket of your choice, and shoes of your choice. If you can get it, suit shirts work extremely well for hte occasion. In any event, it's up to you mateys, but formal is the hope.

Fellow Ahazi DEs,

First off, I'd like to give my heartfelt thanks to my esteemed Master DE Woodrow for building and maintaining the Ahazi DENet. I hope that you've all found his dedication and hardwork useful in advancing your profession, your fun and yes....your wallet.

If you're not on the DENet, now is a perfect to sign up for this growing unofficial association of all Ahazi DEs.

As for Sunday's meeting, I'd like to put up some possible discussion topics and we can work on what would be the most important:

- Pricing: Yes...this is a common issue/problem. How do we make sure that the market 'holds' and that Masters and Novices alike can get/keep a market for their wares. I think that we should basically all try to agree on what the "base" price will be for each droid model (options notwithstanding).


- Referral services list: Some DEs make BH droids, others don't. Some will make R3s, others won't. You get the idea. I would think it a good idea for everyone to know the "go to" guy when your client needs a special order filled. Remember that if you send another DE business, he's likely to do the same for you (especially if you make sure your client mentions your name).


- Compare notes on successful/unsucessful configurations: Basically, this would be away for us to all make sure that we can offer fully working droids by posting what does (or does not) function correctly to the entire DENet. This will make it possible for you to avoid making a droid configuration that won't function for your clients. If the Ahazi DEs can 'break down' the testing to make it easier, we can all benefit at little time and expense.

Example: Do NOT put item storage into a Surgical droid (they will have no item/storage radial menu.)


- Colors: What do we think so far? What does and does not work correctly? What kind of important changes can we request (other than adding an actual "white" color...hehehee).


- Batteries: How long should they last (per single unit)? What kind of unit costs are we seeing for the "best" possible batteries?

Let's make the 2nd DENet convention twice as good as the first and keep the network growing. Maybe someday it will get large enough that we'll need a bigger hotel and maybe even get a Dev to drop by...
