Thread: Not Catching On Need Starting Help

First, I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Lehi and I am a Bothan on the Eclipse server in Theed. I just made Engineering 4 and am slowly working my way to Novice Droid Engineer. I think I read the forums more than I play..anyways...

Financing: How on earth do you get things going? It's tough enough getting the 28800xp for Novice Droid Engineer, but in order to eventually be successful, I'm going to need harvestors and factories...

I have my starting 250 credits. That's IT. I know I'm a crafter and can make things to sell on the bazaar, except at this point (Engineering 4) there is nothing I can really make to sell for a steady profit, is there? When is the big jump? I hear DE's on other threads saying "Oh, I only make 80k a day, woe is me," when I can't even fathom that amount.

I think I'm sorely missing something. I don't know how a crafter, specifically a Droid Engineer (or soon to be) is supposed to get up on his feet and producing droids at a steady pace for a nice profit. When does the profit begin?

Please tell me what I'm missing! Thanks in advance.

you arent missing anything, you cant make money really in your state, other than selling resources. i ran missions to get cash for a long, long, long time and then after several weeks i was making money on droids.

get master artisan and sell backbacks, and resouces :/

otherwise do lotsa missions

I'd recommend (Or, what I did, anyway.)

1. Get some Marksman or Brawler Experience...

2. Run about 20 destroy missions (It'll be a pain in the arse starting out... It get easier, bear with it.)

3. Build & plant your small harvesters... Use all 10 lots

4. After a couple days of harvesting, sell half your resources on the bazaar in a major city (Recommend Theed, Naboo or Coronet, Corellia.) 1000 units for 3000 credits seems to sell fairly well. Use the other half for XP.

5. After a week or two of this, you'll start building a small bankroll... And gain some XP.

6. Get Blueprints II (For Adv. Frame Units), Then get Production I, and Construction II.

7. Keep selling your resources, and R5 Food/Chem, R5 Weapon/Droid, and R5 65% Med. droids on the bazaar in major cities.

From this point, it's up to you how to keep progressing... But your cash situation should start being stable enough to begin upgrading harvesters, buying a house, placing vendors, etc.

Hope it helps ya some

The climb from Engineering IV to a advanced crafting profession can be a daunting task. Many folks underestimate the power-up market. I was the only one making good Melee power-ups on the Theed bazaar for the longest time. I sold them for 300/ea. Even not in crates they sold for 5 at a time. When I started getting tired of the power up market I sold master artisan components to architects and then later Droid storage compartments.

When did I really start making money on droids? Not till I was 4/3/0/4 in the profession. Getting the Novice DE tag off as quickly as you can is a important step in becomming a well recommended DE.

I made a decent living at Eng 4 selling bone armor and ranged power ups on the bazaar. I didn't have to practice grind any of my XP to get to Novice DE, because I was able to sell everything I made on the way.

A good way to get some cash together is to take either delivery missions that go from one city to another - Tatooine is good for this with the Mos Espa - Mos Eisley run. Those were paying about 500 credits each when I was doing them.

Survey missions from the artisan terminals are good too. Find a spot with a high concentration and take missions for that resource.

Good luck to you.

I think Survey Missions pay more over time, than fighting missions. They'll keep you around, while you level-up the tree. Mining is a great starting profession. If you mine, and then sell your resources on the bazaar, you can make 10K - 50K per day, once you get the hang of it. The secret is to find the correct market price. Too high, and you won't sell a thing. Too low, and you won't maximize your profit.

I ran delivery missions on Corellia for a long time. Running back and forth between Kor Vella and Bela Vistal each mission was paying out 975 - 1000 credits. Also sold a bunch of bone armor and a few harvesters. I still have a backpack full of harvesters I made to get the xp toward DE. I'm keeping them around to sell every once in a while when I desperately need the cash.

Join a good PA.Mine gave me all the help and resources I needed. Made Novice DE in a day (at no cost to myself).

Last night I was given 5 medium harvestors (plus power and maintenance) to get all the grinding materials I'll need. Should be master DE in a week or so (maybe less depending on available playing time).

I know this might not help you much, but just to let you know that not all of us are playing this game alone, and some of us are in PA's where each member is more than willing to do whatever is necessary to help another member achieve master in his/her profession.
