I have compiled the posts I had currently stickied here in this one post to save room up top. I will keep the Droid and Droid Engineering guide written by YakJedi as a seperate sticky so you can send your potential clients here and tell them to read the post at the top of the thread.

Centralized Droid Issues (Maintained by Gorantoth): Check here first before posting a new issue to be sure it hasnt been covered yet. Will save us allot of reading

The current version of that thread, thanks to Sin, is sticky now. No need to post the thread url since it changes periodically.

I've never had a problem making links. Try this:

[insert url here, too]

The 1st 10% of the code takes 90% of the time; the remaining 90% of the code takes the remaining 90% of the time.

Crap, stupid boards lol (see, I link even when i dont want to)

{a href='http://the.url.you/want/to/link'}text to display{/a}

Replace the squiggly braces with less-than and greater-than signs.

The 1st 10% of the code takes 90% of the time; the remaining 90% of the code takes the remaining 90% of the time.

Hi Sin... thanks for still hanging in with us... haven't seen this weeks current issues... so I thought I'd add this here - it's a bit of a repost but it's my suggestion on an important issue:

One of the largest problems with droids is that they are multipurpose – customizable – it wreaks havoc with the SOE EQ logic that a ‘droid of smiting +3’ can also be a ‘droid of healing +4’. How do you certify that? (I’ll propose something later but I think the SOE team basically looked at droid customization and surmised that this would make it impossible to allow a certification system to be put in place – e.g. would it be fair that a commando allowed a Probot cert be allowed to also have a med module 5 in it, when doctors can only get Surgical Droid certification which can have a med module 5 but can’t attack).

My Idea: Certification for Controller Kits Which Unlock Droid Function

In dusting off my movie memory I recalled the inconsistency of droid control – where the entire droid army needed a controlling spaceship and specific character who controlled the panel (see the bridge scene on the Ep1 Trade Federation Droid Control ship where the droid army is deployed) – compared to the arena scene of Ep2 where it seemed no one (visible to us) was controlling the droids – they simply obeyed the commands of Dokku. The idea anyways of forcing the requirement of some type of controlling device did not seem “un-SW”. (Yes I still agree droids should be semi/autonomous).

Instead of certification for droids themselves, introduce certification for Controller Kits which allow droid radial menu options to become unlocked:

1) Advanced Combat Droid Controller Kit

Certificate Granted to: All Intermediate level Elite Combat Classes (Bounty Hunter, Carbineer, Combat Medic, Commando, Fencer, , Pistoleer, Pikeman, Ranger, Rifleman, Swordsman, Squad Leader, Teras Kasi), Granted to DE as soon as Kit can be made

Allows: ATTACK, PATROL and GUARD program functions to become unlocked from droid radial menus/conversation menus, UP TO THREE DROIDS OUT AT A TIME

2)Basic Combat Droid Controller Kit

Certificate Granted to: All Novice level Combat Classes (Brawler, Marksman, Scout) Granted to DE as soon as Kit can be made

Allows: ATTACK, PATROL and GUARD program functions to become unlocked from droid radial menus/conversation menus, single droid only out at a time

3) Crafting Droid Controller Kit

Certificate Granted to: All Elite Crafting Classes and Healing Classes

Allows: Crafting Modules in Droid to become active – schematics become available as does experimentation (all the benefits of the crafting station as long as Elite can utilize that station)

4) Medical Droid Controller Kit

Certificate Granted to: All Elite Healing Classes

Allows: Bonuses to Healing, when droid out healing outside city/camp (all the benefits of the med module)

Basic Modules do not require a Controller Kit, any droid can be bought or sold with these modules and they will work:

Storage

Data

Armor

(Repair)

(Power)

(Sensor)

Great idea. I fell in love with it after the first couple of paragraphs. Now if only they would allow the developers to see this.

should never have more than 1 combat droid out at a time. We can't make a few droids more powerful than CHs

MstrArtsn Interesting ...though one thing. If I as a combat character have a droid with medical modules out then he wouldnt work for me (thats a granted as I dont have the "controller" for it). But what about a doc in my party .. would he be able to use the droids skill since he's got the level for it? or would these controllers be tied to the droids "owner"?

I've not been playing long and I'm sure it's been wailed about for months, but I still don't get it - we have every other player popping huge creatures from thin air; Imperial mercenaries (no player character - even Covert - is actually in the 'official' military) being trailed by up to THREE atst's.... yet combat droids... yeah... Dwarf Nuna killers mebbe...

I'm not a DE, but I am a Star Wars fan, and if we are to see multitudes of 'pets' I'd rather see droids - I know I'm preaching to the converted here - the Devs have MindShot themselves with this, the game is drifting further away from anything to do with the SW universe... so /applaud MstrAtsn for putting forward constructive and creative concepts to help the Devs dig themselves out of this hole, and make a disposable, controllablekillerproduct that players WILL want to purchase...

Anyway, what-do-I-know... I'm just a customer waiting for a product...
