Thread: Idea : Battledroid Quests....
I know their are many of us who wish to make battledroids that were in episode I - III , I know i sure would like too, But should it be quest based such as this? And another profession can be unlocked or something that works like Jedi SP System or it could require Zero SP requirement for the new ''Battledroid Commander'' Profession?..
Come on DEs you know we need content such as this...

No, in my opinion. I'm already a Master DE, don't make me jump through additional hoops to expand my craft base.
Quest crafting is nice for prestige items such as RIS or the Bunker crafts, but not for fundamental aspects of the profession.
If they are going to allow us to make high level combat droids, just give us the schematics and allow our crafting abilities to distinguish us (ie experimentation, experimentation, experimentation). That is what crafting is about.
But the ability to make the droids (or any continuity issues for that matter) are not what are preventing the addition of high level combat droids, its who gets to use them. And, well... we've been around the roundabout so many times at this stage that we are making the dead horse dizzy.

Finally An Answer, Well does the plot seem right though? An Old Engineer that have possiblely invented the Separatists Battledroids comes to you asking for you to keep his dream and creation alive by produceing them, Since his time is about there for him to pass on.
This would be great content and more money for DEs more than less.

It would be interesting the first time or two you played through it. But you would be getting lots and lots of orders for Droidikas, so would become a major annoyance. Just give us the schematics.
The only exception would be if the Droidika was a MDE only item. That is, only a MDE could make and own one. But that wouldn't really be helping the profession. It would just help us defend ourselves.
Loot has become really crapped up for the looters out there and thier business. So with the highdemand of more loot, they should make it quest based and reward the player with a Battle droid schematic that only a MDE can learn. They have done that for the Armorsmiths and weaponsmiths in the past, so they should do it for DE too.
But, if your idea is for DEs only, then they should just give you the schem automaticly when MDE.
If you make a quest, somewhere in the process of programming it, the Devs will decide to make it combat based. If that, only high level people could pass it and most DEs could never get it. Those high level people would keep going back and selling the schematics. It would become a thing to get and the value drops because everyone has one.
And if by some chance it stays MDE only, I really don't want to craft a bunch of things for some old guy. If I'm truly a Master at my profession, I should know everything I need simply by looking at a schematic.
Give the Masters exclusive rights to building and using battle droids. If the developers don't believe that's fair, give MDEs ability to build them and give certain non-combat profession Masters the ability also. Or, only allow people with a CL under x amount to use it.
If we absolutely need to do anything to get the schematic, it should be something like "Find five broken models of a droideka to learn how to make it" kind of thing. As I said, if I'm a true Master at build droids, all I need is to look at it.I'll go ahead and offer a suggestion for a quest for MDEs could do to get a battle droid schematic. Here it goes.
Requirements to get quest: Be a Master Droid Engineer and must have crafted 5 or more droids with combat modules in them.
What do you do for the quest: Go out and find five different models of each droid scattered amoung the planets in order to receieve the schematic.
Reward:
First droid: Battle Droid
Second droid: Super Battle Droid
Third: Droideka
(Possible) Forth droid: Either IG-100 MagnaGuard or IG-88 combat model
(Possible) Fifth droid: Droid starfighter
The next time you log in after you've crafted your fifth droid, you are sent a mail from an unknown origin with simply a Way Point attached and a message saying to meet there as soon as possible. You get there and there is a person standing. He is a very old and acts like he is afraid of air itself.
Man: "Hey! You got my mail! Did anyone follow you?"
MDE: "No, I'm sure I wasn't followed."
Man: "Are you sure?"
MDE: "Yes, I'm pretty sure."
Man: "You can't believe how much better that makes me feel!"
MDE: "Could we get on with business? Mainly why you called me out in the middle of nowhere."
Man: "Yes, yes, of course. I heard that you are a very talented droid engineer. A Master as well. Very hard work to be a Master Droid Engineer. Very few in the galaxy have that title. I have seen many of your models and they are quite....deadly."
MDE: "Keep talking. You have my attention."
Man: "I'm sure you've heard that the Empire has been working on a project involving the use of droids in their army. If you haven'y, let me fill you in. Do you want to hear about?"
MDE: "Yes I would."
Man: "Well, at the end of the Clone Wars, some scientists led by a man named Rom Mohc took the Battle Droid's design and modified to for the Empire's needs. It was called the Dark Trooper project. He created droids which were nearly unstoppable. The Dark Troopers were going to replace the Stormtroopers, allowing the Empire to become even more powerful. But, his was killed, along with the Dark Trooper factory by a Rebel agent who had learned of this threat to his cause."
MDE: "And what does this have to do with me?"
Man: "Well, I was one of those scientists that the Empire used to create those droids. Actually, I was Rom Mohc's assitant. But, I didn't like the creating droids which killed people, so I fled the factory just days before it blew. Before I left, I took a few blueprints of the Battle Droids we modified and now I'm afraid that if I'm ever found with them, I'll be killed by the Empire."
MDE: "And....."
Man: "And, I was wondering, do you want these designs?
MDE: "Why, yes. Yes I would!"
Man: "Wait a moment. These schematics are incomplete. You would have go out and search for at least 5 of each model to learn how to build them. Would you want to go out and provide me with the information I need to reconstruct this blueprints?"
MDE: "Yes, I will find the parts that you need in order to finsh the diagram."
Man: "Now, I need you to find......." Describe which part you need to look at. Once you've found the part on one droid, you cannot use that droid again to find another part.
Maybe I went into a little too much detail.

Plain and simple. Master Droid Engineer is the only one who can build the droid, Master Droid Engineer is the only one who could use the droid. How many people could build a Battle Droid? Master Droid Engineers. How many people would know how to work it? Master Droid Engineers.

Nice, Really Thought out well, Glad to finally meet another RPer.
I did a little bit of research on the topic of droids in the time of the Original Trilogy and found out the Dark Troopers were indeed droids. So, it was a matter of simply creating a short story which matched the EU and viola! A true to the time-line quest.
Here is where I got some of my information.
Dark Troopers
Rom Mohc
When you read article on Rom Mohc, you will see that "the designers and workers who escaped the attack were then sworn to keep what they knew a secret", which gave the reason for the man to be frighted.
