My DZ70 droid "Izzy" states that it has a ranged attack on it's profile (one of the reasons i bought it, so it can help me in hunting since i'm a lowly CL14.)
I order the droid to engage it's ranged attack, it goes "!" to acknowledge the command, but won't fire, even at in-their-face range.
does the droid ranged attacks not work?

How's that?I thought they got borked during the CU or right after the CU. As far asI rememberI had one during that time and it fired bolts.

Err isnt the "range attack" a toggle command? Where you tell the droid to or not to attack with it's ranged ability?
I say this because I had this issue with a probot droid I gave to a crafter friend. He was telling it the "ranged attack" command as he wanted it to clear a lair but the thing just sat there. Only when he used the "attack" command did it start firing blast bolts.
Saying that I seem to remember that a recently tried something like this only to witness that the ranged attack wasn't toggling back on - think I had to store the droid and recall it in order for it to start firing again.
Also the Probot had the wrong firing sound - it sounds like a snake spitting O_o
Have I got the wrong end of the stick or is this something just specific to the DZ70?

You're right, it is the range toggle. It's just not togglling.
As for the spitting sounds. Oh who I hate thee...
Anyway, the probot has a bug where if it switches to so called 'melee' mode that it will start making spitting sounds and doing less damage (a lot less) and do kinetic damage instead of energy, although it will still display as shooting.
This change occurs if the droid gets to within 30m of the target. If it goes back to over 30m, it will make the right sounds, do the right damage numbers and go back to energy.
This is the droid automatically switching between ranged and 'melee' at the 30m point.

'Scuse me for interrupting the thread but...
Did you have to sleep with Tiggs to get that handle?
