Last night I made a R3 droid for a friend with 2 general clusters filled with 3 lvl4 storage units .... should have been 48 units of storage .... infact it said before i finished the droid "unit storage 48"...... but when he deeded the droid it only had 10 units of storage..... is this a known bug or is it intended to work this way

It is intended. When modules stack they do not stack in a strictly linear fashion. 2 level 3 modules do not equal a level 6 module.

Likewise, no amount of stacking will give you benefits greater than a level 6 module (10 items of storage, in this case).
