whoops!

Anyway, I was reading about this Droideka debate and whether DE's should have a combat droid that only they can control and whatnot. One of the arguements was that we are just supposed to be crafters- not the droid version of CH.

And so I started thinking... what did I think DE was going to be like before I knew what it was-

Well, I thought I would be able to build droids for people. Regular everyday ones but I was interested in the combat ones. And I wanted to build my own little army of combat droids for myself. I knew I couldn't control 20 or 30 or so but surely 5 or 6-

then I realized, I DID think it was going to be like a droid version of creature handler!

What did you all think?

I thought I'd be able to make droids which did useful things, and fought along side of people, including myself. I thought that creatures would be few in number, as they could only be handled by creature handlers, and that droids would be on-par with them. To me, as fighting units, they seemed identical. I also noticed the formation commands, and thought, 'Cool', I can have a small army of droids.

I had no preconceptions about creature handler because I choose droid engineer before I knew anything about CH.

I expected I would make droids for other people. I also expected, that since I am also focusing heavily on Rifleman, I'd be able to craft droids for myself that are useful to me when I am out doing missions.

I also expected that my droids would be as ubiquitous and important to myself and other players as the Holocron says they are.

There's the biggest rub. They aren't an integral part of the game and aren't truly needed by anyone (not yet anyway). They are nice after thoughts for people who have extra spending cash, but integral? No. Anygroup with a couple of Rancor's and/or a couple of AT-ST's haslittle need for droids whatsoever. For example, the best a droid is good for appears to be medical purposes at this point, but a party group witha high level CH's or high ranking Imperial (for access to the AT-ST) has no need forextensive healing, because they rarely ever get wounded to a degree that requires anything more than a couple of stim-packs.
