Thread: A non-driod use use for droid modules?

I'll start off by saying I'm not a DE, but I visit your forums now and then. I hope I'm not going over old ground here or stepping on toes by suggesting a non-droid use for your stuff. Anyway, it seemed to me that some of the droid sub-components you make would be very useful in other things around the galaxies, and I wanted to put one forward to get your thoughts.

It would be great if you could supply a data storage module that could be added to factories and also if you could supply some programmability to factories, as well. For example, if would be very nice if I could store 10 of my frequently used schematics in my factory. The main help for this would be when a friend with admin rights wants to make something, I don't have to chase him down to get the previous schematic back.

Also, what if we could use a DE-made AI module (or whatever it's called) to program 3 or more successive factory runs without player input. That way, I wouldn't have to tend the factories so often.

So, this isn't a new droid, per se, but it could be a use for your sub-components, much like my BE tissues are used by tailors and chefs.

Sounds intriguing. Anything to expand our customer base.

Wonderful idea.

or to program the harvesters to rotate between different resources at preset time intervals...

Or something that automatically shuts down a harvester when the current resource runs out. Either that or automatically pick another predefined ore to harvest.

Harvesters do that automatically.

But it would be cool if they could be programmed to automatically move to the highest concentration resource available. Wouldn't always get you something useful, but at least it'd be getting you SOMETHING.

An idea that I had would be to make certain Droids an optional component to many Architectual items. Like, maybe a Factory has an optional spot for an R4 droid that would allow it to store extra schematics, or room for an LE Repair Droid which would lower the costs of maintenance to the factory. And when the factory is placed, it would have these two droids walking around outside the factory, doing their jobs.

I used a Droid Storage Unit as a shelf in my small Tat house.

There are a few stairs in the back room so I could put items on the shelves.

"When Sony and Lucas set out, we said, How can we do this and not make another EQ? We didn't want it to be all about Luke, or combat, or lock our players into a class. So we created a system that would allow players to switch professions during the game, and there would be a lot of gameplay around making that change. If you want to go from architect to scout we've created a system to make that happen."
