Thread: IDEA -- Intrepid Droid Engineers Association
Useless meetings! Swine! Where's my CDEF?
But on a lighter note, I'll just happily share some of the comments I've received about the DEnet:
"The DEnet is a godsend": Doughbacca
"The DEnet is a really great thing you have on this server": Efon
"I love the constant waypoint updates the DEnet gives": Okahi
"More fun that a barrel full of droid monkeys!" Woodrow
"Hot Sh!t": Ronald Reagan
"Best thing to happen to droids since me": R2-D2
"Ever since I subscribed I've found Calamari the most sexy men in the universe": Marilyn Monroe
"Please stop sending me all this spam mail": Efon
"Look, you're going to get put on /ignore if you keep this up": Efon
"How do you know where I live?" Efon
"I'm getting a restraining order, you freak!" Efon
So, as you can see, The DEnet has been a huge success here on Ahazi. I would well support it on any of the other servers.
I recently attended the inter-server Droid Engineers Association meeting of DEs on the Ahazi server. To make a long story short, I think Intrepid DEs should start up a similar non-PA organization for DEs on the Intrepid server, the primary benefits of which would be:
1. Sharing WPs on resources, particularly rare spawns;
2. Sharing info regarding bugs and collecting /bugging of bugs for a united voice among Intrepid DEs;
3. Sharing info on prices and other aspects of being a DE; and
4. Misery loves company
Rather than have lots of useless meetings we'll just have an email list which I volunteer to initially coordinate.
Send me your WPs for resources (high quality, high %age, or rare resources), and I will forward them to the list. Go ahead and place your harvs but then share the info. This way, all DEs can prosper and save time. The Ahazi DEs have done this and they report it works great!
When we identify new confirmed bugs, I'll send out an email and we'll all report or /bug at one time.
Send an in-game email to Sodan to participate. I will reply with an email for the proper format of submitting reource WPs.
1. Submit resource waypoints as attachments via email for high quality resources, high %age locations, and especially for rare reources like Lidium Extrusive Ore.
2. Be sure to name waypoint with the resource type, %age and name, like: "85% Steel Aniv" This naming convention is important.
3. Put the same information in the email subject line so I can easily forward to the list.
4. Inside the email, put the name of the nearest city with starport or shuttleport
5. If you know when the resource first appeared, put that info in the email along with anything else you want to include, like resource stats (optional)
Everyone is encouraged to submit resources; conversely, free-riding is discouraged because it violates the spirit of information sharing.
The Ahazi server DEs say that WP sharing has benifited all DEs and stabalized the market for droids. I think it would be awesome for Intrepid DEs to do the same, at a minimum for rare resource spawns.
All Intrepid Droid Engineers should sign up for this list - we have a goodgroup on Ahazi and we do a great job of sharing information. The resource updates alone are well worth joining! Imagine having other dedicated in-DUH-viduals on other planets whoare also looking for the same resources you need, and who are willing to share the locations with you when they find 'em.
And yes, Woodrow is a freak. We put the biggest freak in charge of the asylum!
I'm on Intrepid and always thought that hunting for all the resources I needed was a huge waste of time. Getting an early warning for when the resource disappears would be useful too.
How does one become a part of this list?
And to make it easy to filter, can we setup some required subject content like IDEA: in the subject line?
Thanks Sodan.

Send an in-game email to Sodan.
We have already setup a naming convention: "IDEA: 80% Durraloy Quadracaca" is a typical subject line for resource WPs. But all IDEA emails have IDEA in them. Most people send their WPs with this format in place, but I tweak them if they don't. I ask that IDEA members stick to the convention to keep the list adminstration to a minumum. I want to play too! ![]()
I am managing the list so that people who want on/off it can do so by sending me an email. I understand the value of keeping the signal/noise ration in proper balance. There are no off-topic emails, just information that DEs need to know (resources primarily, but I will send out anouncments re: the interserver DEA meetings).
Freak? I'll have you know that Ms Monroe didn't think I was a freak.
But the identifier tag works very well for mail sorting. The ones I put out are labeled with either "Mass Mail:" or "MM:" depending on the title length (and how many have come before that day). But "IDEA" sounds much better (great title, btw).
I have Fu'bar to thank for that one. He's a Master DE/Master Acronym Crafter, although I suspect he uses third party web-based software as an exploit in his latter profession.

Good form, Sodan!! I wish you the best of luck with IDEA (a great name, by the way).
I look forward to reports on the growth of the 2nd server with a strong DEA presense.
