In the last three days, I've had no less than 12 people approach me asking what theupdated R4 andthe new R6 and R7 units look like. My response to the first person who asked me that was a blank stare and then bewilderment when he told me he had read somewhere on these forums that the devs have these droids ready to be released in the December Vehicle patch.

I consider myself fairly informed on all the changes (real or dev-pipe-dream-variety) that are planned for the DE profession. I already have 35 preorders for the first combat droids at the first of the year. But this whole new/updated R-series thing is news to me. Has any other DE heard about an updated R4 unit or R6/R7 units being added to the game? If 12 different people have heard about it, its either a REALLY well-kept secretthat a dev accidentally leaked out in an interviewsomewhereor this is a wildfire rumor that someone pulled out of their butt.

Can anyone confirm that they've heard about these changes?

The Dev's said something about getting 2 new combat droids. I havent seen anything about a update to the r4 though. If they were making new combat droids I don't think they would be R-series droids either.

I think this is a rumor perhaps just on your server as I have seen nothing to this effect here or on test center. It is possible the dev's have added language or someother coding in anticipation of future changes and that is where this is coming from but again I haven't seen anything regarding that.

Or a typo gone hidiously wrong somewhere

I've never heard of an "R6" (though presumably one exists), but there's definitely such a thing in the EU as an "R7." It's a very sophisticated astromech designed specifically to be paired with the E-Wing. Unfortunately, both the E-Wing and the R7 were designed for the New Republic, some years after the time period of the game.

Holy crap, playing SWG is turning me into such a Star Wars geek. I should not know these things.

R Series droids have always seemed more astromeck for the most part. Although any new combat droids are welcome, I had hoped we would see droids more fitting to the Sar Wars story line.

I want my IG series droid, and I want to be able to sell them to anyone of the proper skill level. Don't base droids on the DE line---base it on the skill tree of the player--Please don't make us DE a dime a dozen simply because of what we can control.

If you get or have the Star Wars Essential Guide to Droids you will find there is such thing as R6's and R7's, R6 droids came after the battle of Endor and look a lot like the standard R5. You also find that there is a Military Protocol Droid called the M-3PO anlong with other "Combat Droids".

Hmm... I don't remember seeing the R6, but maybe that's just because it looked like an R5.

I don't know Ryde, there would be almost no difference in between bio engi/ch vs droid engi/droid user class. kinda poor design.
