Thread: repair droids to fix speeders
Was wondering why repair droids with the repair modules can not fix speeders? To me this makes no sence because that is the purpose of the droid. Will there ever be a time in the near future where this is will allowed? I think it only fair to have the droids repair the speeders because players cities don't have a place to fix the speeders. Just wondering others thoughts.
Thanks

I have been thinking along these lines myself. But as BoberFett said it would kill the moneysink, and we cant have that can we ?
My idea is the only the repair drioid would be able to repair speeders. That would put that model to use and we get to sell another droid that will be high in demand.
If we have to keep the money sink...then why not have the droids work like the garages?
"You are in the vicinity of a repair droid,..."and still use repair from the radial menu.
If they want vehicles to be a money sink, then they need to fix the bug that fully repairs them every time you take a shuttle somewhere while your vehicle is out.
1. Walk up to the shuttle, dismount, DO NOT store your vehicle.
2. Buy your ticket and take the shuttle to your destination.
3. At your destination, store your vehicle and then re-generate it. Presto! Fully-repaired vehicle.
Yes, I have bugged it. It isn't guaranteed to work, but it works for me almost all of the time. Oddly enough, it seems to NOT work most often on the busiest planets - Corellia, for instance. Of course, those are also the planets where my vehicles auto-store most often while I'm out in the wilds 4k from the nearest town.
Because of that bug I cannot give up Scout (and I desperately need the skill points) because I need to be able to make a camp to re-generate my vehicle after it vanishes out from under me.

You do realize that you're gonna get banned for this, right?!?
But seriously...
I like the idea of using LE Repair droid as "vehicle repair", until something better comes along.
However, this would lead to (I suspect) a required "Vehiclular Maintenance Module" that would have to be installed in the 'LERA' droid. That's not so bad...more variety is always a good thing.
One of the best reasons to do this, in my opinion, is the lack of player cities to have a garage (yet).
Obviously, the devil's in the details...but I think the idea has enough merit that it should be considered at length........
why should he be banned? no need to answer, I just think it would be dumb if he was.

BenEGas,
It was a joke. Exploiting 'broken' game systems for gain is supposed to be a bannable offense (after a few warnings).

Don't count on getting a few warnings. Around 50 smugglers got banned without warning. If SOE feels an exploit is deliberate and serious enough then they may ban you outright.
Of course I doubt they will do that over the issue of repairing your speeder this way. For one thing, it's too easy to do accidentally. For another, it saves you maybe a few thousand credits a week. Not particularly game breaking.
On the other hand, nesting a dozen general socket modules together and sticking them into an MSE droid, that they might find deliberate and game breaking (though to be honest I doubt they would find it game breaking because the caps would still work).
That would be great!

No one is making you keep Master Artisan, err, Scout.

But actually, I agree. The auto-store thing sucks big time. I'm nervous to drop Scout too.
