Okay, I am presenting this because I would like to see more usability out of the current droids and future droids. I know most all of you know how to use the Macro's for about everybody use's them to grind except me! lolI am more of a social macro user

But, on that note Macro's I think with a slight modification could be saved as deeds/disksand sold to let Droids have more custom functionality. This is kinda dependent on the actions droids will be capable of later on, but hear me out.

1. you open the macro window and build a macro that will make a droid move around repair a bot, say something, attack, defend, befriend and what not. (I would like to see ways to link sounds to droids so you can make the R2 units and other non-talkie droids make custom noises, alot like musician profession */flourish 1-?*)

2. once the macro is made you can save it in to a disc that you can sell or provide already installed in your droid.

3. Modules that take the discs may be required or just built in in order to accept these discs. But these discs should give droids more of a personality instead of repeating the same infernal beeps all the time! R2-D2 at the Hidden Rebel base makes more noises than the ones we make! and let's say depending on the module type you can make a droid hold 1,2 or 3 programs, anymore and you have to swap out discs

4. you can run the program from the same section as you would assign the default programs to the droid

5. Droid run's program whether useful or entertaining!

as it stands all I can get my droid to do is dance! just py taking two patrol points and sticking them really close together and letting him patrol. he looks like he dances around as far as programming that is all we can do currently

The idea for a droid scripting language has been brought up many times. A lot of people would love to see such a thing. But implementing it would be tough. And with any scripting language, the flexibility of it would no doubt leave unforseen holes and exploits.

But its a great idea. I'd love to see it.

I realize this, I have been adding this idea about once a month for ppl not to forget it

But this is the first time I have spun it from the angle of implementing it through the Macro function that is already in the game. I think this will give the Dev's less work to have to do to implement it.

I like this idea, but I disagree that it would be less work for the DEVs... you still have to figure out a way for the droid to both generate and obey it's own commands, and whether you base that off the current macro system or a brand new scripting language you'll run across the same problems.

However, it would make it substantially easier for the users.

I love the idea. but the thing that worries me about such a system is the quesion of whose computer is going to run the scripts. droids appear to be individual entities that are managed server side. they respond to are commands, but they are clearly entities controlled by the server.

but the current macro system runs the macros client side. and it is likely thatthe fact that the macros are run client sideis whatmakes them feasible in the first place.

i doubt the servers could handle it if all the droidsthey weremanaging were also running scripted macros as well. maybe they could, but it would likely be difficult.

XCman's idea would only make it easier if the droids themselves were controlled directly by the client, like the current macros are. somehow I think that would be very problematic as well.
