Thread: An excert from Star Wars: A new hope novelization (relavent to Droid Engineers)
Starting 2nd paragraph, page 34 (Del Rey paperback Edition)
"There's a blip on the scanner" Luke reported to Threepio. "It may be our R2 unit, hit the accelerator!" Theepio did as his new master instructed, and the vehicle's engines roared, fighting the strain of a lifetime of harsh desert conditions, and accelerated twords the coordinates.
The young farmboy hopped out of the Landspeeder, and started twords a familiar three-legged droid that was hobbling in the sand, scarcely aware at his new owner's arrival."Hey, whoa, just where do you think you're going?" The little droid only offered a feeble whislte as a response. Threepio followed, and stood meancingly behind him. "Master Luke here is your rightful owner now!" The Protocol droid scolded. "We'll have no more of this Obi-Wan Kenobi jibberish...and don't talk to me about your mission, either! You're fortunate he doesn't blast you into a million pieces right here!"
"No, it's alright," Luke corrected. "But I think we better go." Luke was already heading back to his speeder when Artoo suddenly came alive with a series of frantic whistles and beeps. "Whats wrong with him now? Luke said, turning to Theepio. To Luke's suprise, Theepio's response was one of sudden concern. "Oh my...sir, he says there are several creatures approaching from the southeast." Luke turned, grabbing his rifle off of it's holdster on the side of the speeder. "Sandpeople." Luke guessed. "Or worse. Come on, lets go have a look." Threepio was less than comfortable with the idea.
Luke carefully positioned himself atop the peak, staring hard through his electro-binoculars. Luke could clearly see two large quadrepeds, a mass of wooley hair, with two twisting horns jutting menacingly from either side of thier fur covered heads. "There are two Banthas down there but I don't see any...wait a
second, they're Sandpeople all right. I can see one of them now."
With that, Luke's view was cut short, as a feral, bandage covered humanoid appeared a few feet in front of him. The sandperson let out a bellowing warcry, raising it's gaffi stick threateningly in the air. Threepio fell back in suprise, and Luke sprang to his feet.
Luke quickly reached into his belt as the Tusken approached, and pulled out a datapad. He quickly hit a button, and two twenty-foot tall Rancors appeared next to him. He yelled "A" several times, and the two rancors obediantly rushed his attacker. R2 also reacted to this, but only with small beep, indicating he needed a new battery. Theepio had already dissapeared into thin air.
The Rancors went to work, and within seconds the Tusken lay face up in the sand. No sooner had that threat been nuetralized, however, thanfour more tuskens appeared suddenly and out of thin air, and they pressed the attack. Luke fired a blaster into the face of one repeatedly, but to no avail. As the Rancors made short work of the other 3, one had sneaked past, and hitting luke only twice with his gaffi stick, luke lay helpless in th tatooine sands.....
So, as you guys can clearly see...there is no problem in SWG that i can see, everything is balanced just the way it is in the official Star Wars cannon.........
Unshaken by this new threat, Luke stood atop the outcropping and boldly exclaimed, "a." The rancors leapt into action, seizing the cloaked figure and neatly biting off its head. The creature was unlike anything Luke had ever seen, but he'd get no chance to discover what it was, as the rancors messily devoured the carcass.
Upon reaching the hut of Ben Kenobi, the desert hermit, Luke discovered nobody was home. He left a note on the table where Ben would be sure to see it, hopped in his speeder and headed home just in time to meet the nice stormtroopers, who killed him, took his datapad (being careful not to let the rancors out), and returned to the Death Star, where they all received promotions for their role in securing the Empire's future forever.
