I've heard good things about the advanced combat droids (sorry, don't know the names). While they may not be as powerful as an AT-ST, they also don't cost 45000 faction points.

I am also curious, does anybody have some insite as to whether or not droids are actually effective in battle? If so how many can we have outat once and is that in addition to 3 regular pets and 3 faction pets?

Well sad to say but from what I gathered in chat from various people from beta the combat droids are pretty weak since they can be sold to other players. One guy said a tamed animal is like WAY better then a droid. After talking all night in chat everyone pretty much says Droid are weak and dont really do combat well... I think ill have to pass on wasting time in engineering and go for taming until more people get engineering up there. I dont wont to be a gimp that creates weak pets when I could just buy the weak pet from an engineer lol.

I hope there not as weak as the chat guys are saying but it seems they might be really pathetic from what I have read. I hope someone here from beta can clear this up I dont want to waste my time on weak bots and generic crafting lol.

Simple question can bots fight in PVP and actually help or do they die in afew hits and = useless.

I heard alot of bad things that combat droids were weak and pathetic so im worried to start one. I would like a droid/attack class but why be a droid engineer with weak pets when you could just go get faction pets that own like the AT/ST i here its powerful...

I was also told that a master engineer could create a VERY powerful pet but it was expensive so I was wondering if this was true. I would hope a droid engy could create a pet tuffer then a faction pet that anyone can have like AT/ST....

Thanks for info!

Nope. Unlike creature handling, there's no skill requirements to own or operate a droid.

Droid Engineering is an Artisan profession. Does that fact mean that in order to control our Droid "pets" we need to have Creature Handling skills?

In my opinion, there should be some Droids with anyone can operate, and some more advanced ones which only the Droid Engineer can control.

That would allow you to have your basic Market Droids, the ones that we sell and people use, and then have the Elite Droids, the true works of art which only a proper Engineer can program and control. That would solve both problems...we would have our basic Droids for sale, and the more special Droids for our own uses that would be as powerful as Tamed Creatures (though we only get one at a time of that type, so that the Tamers still have more powerful pets due to quantity, and not quality).

I agree Sigma, I mean look at IG-88 and all the assassin type droids. We should be able to make some pretty powerful things, it'll be a major disappointment if we cannot.

As it was when I was in beta that you can make 4 combat droids only.

DZ70 very weak combat. Has about 110ham and does about 20 damage in up close.

Adv. Dz70 same as the Dz70 since the armor was not working the right way.

(that was as far as I got but this other information was from a friend in beta)

Probot ok at range combat.

Adv probbot very good range combat. You can get them up to about 1400 ham and good armor for it 2 slots.

In beta we where asking the dev to give us the ability to have more then 1 droid at a time as we go up the skill trees but as of yet everyone can only have 1 droid at a time.

I think they could make Combat Droids hit really hard, like(and these are just numbers, they give an idea of range, they'renot cold hard facts)start around 400-600 damage, and go all the way up to 1300-1500 damage. But the catch is, they are VERY fragile (I'm talking a ham so lowthey could be killed by a noob mob in adozen hits), so you will need have a meat shield (either you or a pet) and therefore balancing out their power. There could also be the possibility of creating a meat shield droid, like a probot. Have a good amount of ham, but only like 100 max damage. This could make having a"offensive" droid worth the effort and/or money.

Then's there's damage types to consider. Of course the damage type would have to be the same used by rifles, carbines, or pistols, but have the choice ofdamagetype so a person could have the right droid for the situation.

Another way to balance out droids is to make their repair kitsexpensive to make (therefore to buy too), but not make it hard onthe DE's to find the materials.

As far as how many you can call out,put iton 3, but if your a CH, modifyit to the "Additional Pets" mod, so a CH can't have an army of 6under his command. Therefore a CH has to make a choice to wether he wants droids or creatures.

Just a thought
