Thread: Fair Pricing for Droids & Droid Parts

I'm an hour or so of grinding away from Master DE, so I'm starting to gear up for some serious droid sales (I'm currently working on stock-piling crates of every droid component I can think of). However I'm at a loss for how to price my items. I know droids in general are quite expensive, and with Publish 7 coming soon, they will also become more in-demand. I want to get fair market value for my goods, but I don't want to be undercutting the entire DE population of my server by some ridiculous amount.

So, I defer to the expert opinions of DEs game-wide. How are you determining the sales price of your items? How do you factor in the following items when setting a price?

-Amount of resources used
-Quality of resources used
-Level of complexity
-Level of experiences required to craft item (i.e. it's a Production 2 schematic)
-Level of experience of the crafter (i.e. if you're a Master DE vs a 3,4,2,3 DE)
-Quality of the finished part
-Time required to craft

And any other important factors you can think of.

I appreciate the help and feedback\

First, remember that pricing is kind of subject to the "Charge what the market will bear" rule.

Having said that, I use the following formula in an Excel Spreadsheet.. and it works fine for me...

======================================================

Assumptions:

UnitResourceCost = average_cost per ResourceUnit on a given server
CrafterLevel of 1.0 indicates MASTER (Higher numbers indicate lower spots on the SkillTree)

ProductionCost =
ResourceUnits*(UnitResourceCost+(SchematicComplexity/CrafterLevel)
(This value is raised by 33% if a SPECIFIC resource (i.e.: Lidium Extrusive Ore) is required)

Retail market price =

(Adjusted ProductionCost * 1.10) ===> Rounded up

======================================================

By placing all of the potential variables in a sub-sheet, I can quickly recalculate sales amountsfor any given server.

*current Excel Spreadsheet available on request (for anyone interested)*

- Account: Master TKA (cancelled)
- Account: Master Doctor (cancelled)
- Account: Smuggler (cancelled)
- Account: Master Chef (cancelled)
- Account: Master Droid Engineer (activity suspended pending developments)
Total loss of annual revenue (SOE): ~$715US to ~$900US
- Bad press: Priceless
Should Sony and Lucas Arts be worried? (15000 users * 5 accts = ~$13MIL in potential lost gross annual revenue) If I were the CEO for either LA or SOE, I would certainly be worried.

Is there a way I could get a copy of that spreadsheet from you?

Thanks,

Does anyone else have any thoughts on the issue? I'd like to see what the average opinions and price structures are.

The factors I take into account are.

1. Units of resource used.

2. Number of subcomponent used. (including sub components to subcomponents)

Resources represent cost. and subcomponents represent effort (and some further cost for factory maintenance)

I mine my own resorces, and have been tending to charge from 3c(guildmates) to 5c (strangers) per resouce. and, oh 100 usually per sub comp.

I am not yet quite Master DE, so my droids arnt quite maximal. But generally pretty close.

What resources I use make a diff. Certainly a droid made of rare uber resource would go for Way more. Ive been saving most of my uber resource for when it may make a freaking diff.

My prices are low. Ive no tent or vendor on map. So my sales are sparce too. Im hoping my low prices will begin to develope me a customer base.

I make most of my money from Uber craft stations for a bit over 40k each. and Vehicles for 3c/resource.

I make base droids no modules from 10-30k, and then add 5k per module including armor.

I personally charge waaay low for my droids. Here is a post with some of my prices:

I have been pretty successfull. There is an underlying reason to my low prices. If you can figure that one out, you may be as successful.

I would post a list of resources, but I don't have it with me, I'm at work.
