Hi everyone I noticed last night that while there are some great droids out there, none of them really seems to be obtainable for newbies. I was thinking of starting a line of low end droids, R2's with a single crafting station and 2 store 4's, maybe an entertainer 1 as well, 1 special effect and 2 store 4's. What would be a good price for these that would be affordable for the newer player but not get other DE's angry.

Castorius on Chilastra once told me "I wouldn't sell anything with an advancedbrain for less than 20k."

20k is the bare minimum I'd sell a basic R2 for, and if the newbie has 20k to drop on a droid, they're not really a newbie anymore in my book.

Friend of mine on Tarquinas does a brisk business selling R5s and R4s on the bazaar, though- one or two level 4 modules or stations for max of 6k.

I usually sell them R5s, treadwells or something along those lines with crafting stations and item storage (lvl 4 though) for 10k. Why R2s (unless you are talking about the basic ones, but I only make the advanced ones)? Leave them something to look forward to and R5 can also be produced cheaper (or R4 at least). Sometimes I make LEs too.

Usually if people can't afford something for 40k they cant afford something for 20k either.

Yes these would be basic R2 units, the only reason I was thinking about them was the 3 slot capability.

If you hang around Eisley now, you'll find more newbies than you can shake a stick at. Its a good idea to have a shop near Eisley now if you want to attract new clients.

I demo my attack droids to newbies against the thugs or whatever attackable NPC's are around. a DZ70 droid is cheap to make and great for a newbie. The biggest problem is that they are always broke.

Hey question: Has anyone tried to re-color those green R2's that newbies get? Its interesting to note that Ive heard some newbies say they hate their droid because it keeps pestering them with information... as it was designed to do. I tell them its just being helpful!

The combat rating of my AdvDZ-70's are 209 and thattranslates to: 128-134 damage, 1.58 speed 0.39 to hit. HAM is 3072. Thats no small fry!

This example is using 2 combat modules. You can also pop in an auto-repair so the newbiesare not forced to buy expensive repair kits and just have to worry about batteries. These are great newbie droids that they can play with until they have more money to buy a probot or R unit.

I agree with Opus. I sell quit a few DZ70s as starter droids with craft modules or combat modules to folks that are not willing yet to commit the large creds to get a better droid. Once they see the utility of the small droids they usually come back to get something better.

i run weekly specials on my droid vendor

this week is 1 module harvest droids and 1 module aoe heal droids

7500 credits

but unfortunatly im on starsider

but as a master de i sell tons of high end droids

most newer players arnt loaded yet expect a top end droid for what they have

if they expect this i blow them off

if a noob asks me about uber droids we talk for 10 minutes

i determine hes/ she is actually poor or a noob ill cut them a break and give them the best droid i can make for what they can afford - a few k so they can travel

doing things like that have seem to got me a ton more business on the top end when they tell there friends

I sell DZ-70's with one combat module, and max item storage and no armor for 8k on my vendors. They sell pretty regularly, and I consider them affordable for a newbie.
